Dawn Treader stars talk about Film’s Near Cancellation

Will Poulter, Skandar Keynes and Georgie Henley spoke to the Daily Record about The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.  They talk about injuries sustained both on and off the set as well as the adventures that they had while filming.  Plus the time that the film was canceled by Disney before being picked up by Fox.

He said: “I got hit by a surf board and the fin cut open my head.”

“It was terrifying because there was blood everywhere. Luckily, the cut only needed six stitches.

“But when I called Michael Apted, the director, he freaked out.

“He thought the cut might be on my forehead or the front of my face but luckily it was at the back and covered by hair.”

In the film, Will plays Eustace, the unlikeable cousin of the Pevensie children, who joins them on their latest trip to Narnia. He said: “It is fun to play such a brat.”

The young actor reckons Eustace is in a constant state of trauma and, for him, being in Narnia is like being in a nightmare.

Will said: “He doesn’t believe that animals can talk or Narnia exists. So he does his best to distance himself.

“The only association he has with Narnia is hatred and disbelief. But as he grows, he realises what an amazing place it is.”

During the film, Will finds himself transformed into a dragon. He said: “That was all down to amazing special effects. The dragon doesn’t speak but they used my voice for his grunts and breathing.”

Will, who was a fan of the CS Lewis novels, was excited to join the big-screen team and admits he felt very frustrated when it looked as though the film might not be made.

He said: “I never thought I would get the part and when I did I was so pleased and honoured.

“When the film was postponed, I thought it wasn’t going to happen and I was distraught because I had been so looking forward to it.

“So when I found out it was going ahead, I was naturally elated.”

  1. Will was distraught, how do you think us fans felt? Thank-you Fox for picking up Narnia. Let’s hope Dawn Treader is a success so we can see the rest of the series!

    • I AGREE!!! At least Will was able to learn weather or not someone had picked up Narnia!!! We fans had to rely on rumors!!! Either that or we didn’t hear about it at all… ’till right around now!!!

  2. I hope that Dawn Treader does well and that movies are made from the rest of the stories. I really enjoyed watching the first two and am looking forward to seeing Dawn Treader!

  3. Wow, Disney canceled the production, does anyone know why? As much as I love Disney, they seem to never learn from their mistakes. They have done this with other great movies and usually regret it in the end. Thank you FOX for picking it up, I enjoyed the first two and I’m looking forward to seeing the next five. Disney’s loss is Fox’s gain.

  4. What else can I say? OUCH! Poor Will. Stitches are not fun!

    Fox and Walden are awesome!

  6. Why is it that peter and susan are in this movie? i mean in a trailer they are in narnia!
    That isn’t right?

does anyone know why they are in narnia? maybe i mist a note or something..

    • ok well we have been discussing this for a LONG time, and what I’ve gathered is that there is going to be a flashback that explains the story @ the beggining of the movie, and they will be in narnia IN the flashback (as when they were ruling as kings and queens of narnia). I think thats what it is. but there are like a million theories. overall, its nothing to worry about.
