Voyage of the Dawn Treader is “The #1 Movie in the World”

Today I was reading The Denver Post and saw a print advertisement claiming that The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is “The #1 Movie in the World”. This is most likely a reference to the fact that The Voyage of the Dawn Treader opened its first weekend as the #1 movie in box office sales. The advertisement was placed next to a Yogi Bear review by Rick Bentley who gave the film a rating of two stars and said,”Kids will be attracted to the new 3-D ‘Yogi Bear’ like ants to a picnic. Parents will find it as entertaining as having to deal with ants at a picnic.” The Voyage of the Dawn Treader advertisement quoted People Magazine’s review of the film as “Pure Magic” and it also highlighted that the Daily Mail gave it a five star review. At the bottom of the ad it says that mobile users can get showtimes by text messaging NARNIA and their zip code to 43KIX (43549). To view a higher resolution scan of the advertisement click here.

  1. I found almost the same ad in a newspaper today too! The only difference is that it doesn’t say “The #1….” I cut it out to keep with all my other Narnia pictures, lol.

      • Whoops, I didn’t look at your picture close enough…mine actually is even more different. It’s a lot smaller, it doesn’t say “The #1 MOVIE IN THE WORLD (=P),” instead, it says, “Return to the Lion, the Witch, The Narnia you love.”

Also, it doesn’t show the top two reviews (pure magic, even better than the first narnia), and the Narnia logo is underneath the Dawn Treader, vs. to the side of it, and it doesn’t have all the small white letters above the “3D.” Haha I might as well just take a pic and tweet it to you…ha.

  2. the newspaper in my country also gave the movie a good review. 4 out of 5 stars. it quotes the movie returns her to the curious innocence & wonder of childhood, providing a welcome respite from the stress & ordeals of adulthood.

  3. It IS the #1 movie in the world =)

I just babysat 5 kids tonight (which was EXHAUSTING), and when the parents got back, figured out that they had gone to see VDT in 3D. So it was for a good cause. Haha

  4. (I have said this twice on here) I have heard and seen multiple trailers on the radio and on tv saying Narnia is the #1 movie on Earth!

  5. So obviously Dawn Treader hasn’t taken the world by storm and outed every movie in the box office along with previous Narnia installations. However, as of right now it has already garnered over it’s budgeted production cost so they are now making money off of it. So is this a good indicator for further Narnia book renditions to continue? It seems to be doing fairly decent in box office. Is there any word from Fox about a green light for The Silver Chair, I’m so anxious right now… and want to see all of the books be released so badly right now…
