Narnia is Getting a Makeover

HarperCollins the publisher of The Chronicles of Narnia books is looking for a graphic designer to give the series a fresh look. This job is hosted by D&AD (Design and Art Direction) as part of the New Blood Shots program. This program is looking to give the opportunity to a new designer 18 years or older who has less than a year of experience. By participating in this contest designers can access a free online course with modules to guide new freelancers through the process. The deadline is December 10, 2020 and you can find the details to apply here: https://www.dandad.org/en/d-ad-new-blood-awards/#shots

The goal with this project is:

“Now HarperCollins, with the
support of The C.S. Lewis Company, want to
reignite the spark, and bring these enduring
tales to new audiences, with a new generation
through a fresh brand identity.

You must develop a scalable identity that can
cover everything from book spines all the way
through to digital amplification.

Your branding must cover:
• A new logo. This can be type or include
Aslan the lion in some way;
• A strap line that says ‘The Chronicles of
Narnia’;
• Typography for book titles;
• A colour scheme (though you must also
exemplify that your work is legible and also
works in black and white);
• Mock-ups of physical executions including
book covers/jackets and the spine of the
book;
• Examples of how your idea would be
translated into digital executions such as
social media, ebooks, apps and games.
This can also include an animated version
of the logo.”

For those wanting to participate there will be a zoom meeting with HarperCollins to meet the client on Friday November 6th at 1pm GMT (canceled). If you enter this contest please let us know buy writing to us using the NarniaFans.com contact form. Good luck and may Aslan be with you!
