Narnia Fans Mailbag #25

We’ve just posted the twenty-fifth edition of the NarniaFans Mailbag. We’ve answered four letters this week from such topics as the film release dates, the rating for Prince Caspian, the Ultimate Fan Contest, Narnia Countdown Clocks (Help Wanted!) and we’ve been given the Turkish Delight recipe that used to be found on narnia.com!

Q: I love this mailbag; you do such an awesome job with it! I’m amazed that you can answer all those questions! This whole sight is great.
I was just wondering if you or anyone else has an idea of when each Narnia movie will come out. If not, what about the order they’re being released (I understand, of course, that this could be 10 years and it’s all tentative).
Also, a couple of months ago I saw something here about a contest for the best-written review. Is that over? And if so, who won?
Thanks so much!

-Ally

A: Hello! Thanks, I do try to put a lot of effort into answering every e-mail that I receive in the following mailbag. As per the films, the plan is to release each of the following films one year apart from 2008-2010: Prince Caspian, Voyage of the Dawn Treader and The Silver Chair. As for The Magician’s Nephew, The Horse and His Boy and The Last Battle, respectively, those three are not yet known. I believe that, depending on the success of this upcoming “Caspian Trilogy,” they’ll either plan those three as a “trilogy” of sorts. The could film them in the original order of the books, or they could film them starting with The Horse and His Boy and ending with The Last Battle. It is not yet known when they’ll be released. Also, when it comes to the review contest: I simply haven’t had the time to devote to that. I will most likely make the selection upon the launch of the Prince Caspian Review system (which according to the programmer will be better than the LWW one).

Q: Hi all!
Hope you and the staff had great holidays. I actually recieved the Narnia movie four-disc-extended-edition free from England with no senders adress. Was it anything to do with you guys at Narniafans? Also I’d like to say that in PC book especially at the end (in the war) it is quite gory, obviously we can’t say what the movie will be rated. I just wondered what you guess think of it. Thanks so much.

-Jason

A: Wow! That’s really cool that you got the Narnia four-disc set free from England. However, I do have plausible deniability on it. I’m not from England. 🙂 And really, it wasn’t me. I guess you’ll never know, and either way, that’s a pretty awesome gift! As for the rating, I’m going to guess that they’re going to shoot for a PG rating again. They were able to manage that with LWW and that had a sacrifice. According to Andrew Adamson: “This film is probably a little darker than the last one, partly because the children are older, but partly because it’s a different story. At the same time, the death of Aslan was a pretty dark scene and I don’t think there’s anything that’s harsher or less PG than that.”

Q: Thank you for answering my last question.I just thought of another one. Did you get to look at the entries for the Ultimate fan contest? If so what was wrong with my mom’s ([NAME REMOVED] the one who had four cildren that insisted on being called PP, SP, EP and LP)? I really thought that would win for January’s month. Did it sound too much like Emily’s (Queen of October)? Thank you.

-Madison

A: Hello Madison, and you’re welcome! I actually was not a part of the selection process, nor did I see any of the entries. I’m sorry that she wan’t selected though. It must have been a very difficult decision for those in charge of the selection process.

Hey, I have a suggestion for something to add to the site. I know that on sites such as Mugglenet and The Leaky Cauldron, they have countdowns that counts down to when Harry Potter Book 7 and Movie 5 are released, and fans can put the countdowns on their websites or myspaces or whatever. I think that you guys should make a countdown that counts down to the release of Prince Caspian and fans can put it on their spaces and such. Let me know what you all think of that.

-Jeff D.

A: Hey Jeff, it’s funny that you should ask about that. We’re actually looking for a programmer that can create those very things. If there is anyone that can volunteer to do it, and can do it well, please write in. Serious offers only, please. It’s a volunteer job, and we’ll let everyone know about you by giving you a page on our “Staff” section of the website with links to your stuff. Who knows, you might get paid! Whether from us or from someone else wanting you to create something similar for their site!

And finally, here’s Cassie’s response to a letter from last week:

In Mailbag #24, a fan asked for the Turkish Delight recipe from Narnia.com… I believe this might be what they are looking for:
Turkish Delight Recipe
I hope this helps!

And that’s it for Mailbag #25!
