The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader went through many drafts and story re-writes before it became the film that we all saw a little more than a year ago. Concept Artist Justin Sweet posted pieces of concept art that he had done for the film a few years ago, just last week.
If you take a look, you’ll see that the merfolk played a much larger role in the story when he was working on concept art for the film.
Beautifully done! I like the dragon one the best! I wish they would have had the sea people in the movie though. Still, these are awesome!
OMG!! why in the world this creatures weren’t put on the movie!! -.-!! and instead they put the crappy CGI water mermaids!!! I wish i had been the director of this movie!!! i will have done it better!!! ugh!! still I love the movie! but this concept art!! makes me wanna hate the director for taking away such beautiful creatures!!
Cost. To create those would have cost a LOT of money. We’re talking at least $5million for each Mermaid or Merman, and $5 for each Seahorse. And that’s just to build the realistic looking creature in the computer, not including animation.
Ow, my jaw hit the floor a little too hard. Had no idea it was that expensive to do cgi characters!
Seriously?! Well, that explains a lot. Lol, I was totally agreeing in my head with Luis until I read your comment… *sigh* I wish the Narnia movies had a bigger budget to work with. Oh well.
True, but I would have preferred a battle possibly with these people and an actual sea monster (not imagination)than the whole green mist thing. Dragon looks better but I didn’t have problem with the one in the movie. This end of the world is cool, but they definitely got it right in the movie. Even if it didn’t have the same importance it should have had.
Wonderful concept art! Sad to see the lack of the sea people in the movie, but I think they did the best they could with the budget.
oh my god i almost cry !!! this are beautifull, i really love the movie and with this seapeople will make it perfect especially like luis the narnian said if this people come to help the dawn teader while they’ve been figthing with the seaserpent
CHEERS!
A fantastic fantasy, and adorable, talented actresses/actors who fit their roles so naturally. Beautiful music! A delightful C.S. Lewis, and Douglas Gresham story and media, enterprise creation.
Better success for the next Narnia movie budget-wise is wished – prayers.
Greetings from an extra actress from So. California! — I sure would love to join the cast on the next Narnia movie.
