If you’re in the market for props from the set of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, we’ve got someone that is trying to sell a pair of candles that sat on Aslan’s Table in the film. The candles are stunningly beautiful. I had a chance to see them up close when I visited the Aslan’s Table set during filming.
2 x standing peacocks ‘used’ in the Aslan’s Table scene.
Just under 1 meter tall each.
Made from resin poured in molds and spray painted with gold.
Each peacock has 3 tubes running through the middle. Two for wires which would cause a spark and one for lighting fluid which would keep it lit. The candles are a hard plastic and fake with real candle wax poured down the sides and allowed to drip over the peacocks body. The same candles that I own….were made to look exactly like Narnian candles.
The scene was shot over two days with some real food and some fake food. Shrimp were real and started smelling foul after a while with hot lighting. The goblets were plastic throw-away cups spray painted with gold paint. A local chef carved two watermelons for the table.
The ignition of the peacocks took quite a few takes and Michael was on a tight schedule so the team was given one more take before moving on with the next scene with Michael saying that post production would place flames in with CGI. The last take worked a treat with all peacocks igniting.
Holes were cut in the table so the tubes could be hidden under each peacock. The tubes that hung outside the peacocks were cut off so we could use them at the charity screenings. Wires and tubes still remain inside and are visible from the bottom and top.
The candles are a heavy, strong plastic with Narnian candle wax poured down the sides, allowing for extra wax to drip on peacock for visual effect.
I know of 6 existing peacocks that were saved after wrap on the film. No peacocks were at the auction.
The seller was gifted with these after production wrapped.
The two smaller ones are the ones for sale.
The seller lives in Brisbane but is moving to the U.S to commence Bible College in 5 weeks (Redding, California).
Purchasers have to live in either the U.S. or Australia, as shipping is huge on long, heavy items. Please direct any inquiries to Tony Nixon – Official via a Message to the page owners directly.
Wow! I would love to have these! I wonder how much they are asking for them…
That is really neat! Too bad they’re made from resin, but they still look gorgeous. They’re probably WAY out of the budget range for me, though…. O well, I’m sure it will make the day of whoever does get them 🙂 That would be a wonderful b-day present, too! lol
I’m buying it!!!
