Netflix released a bombshell announcement for their 2021 release schedule which will include a brand new original feature film every week for the entire year. This fast paced sizzle reel gives Netflix subscribers a look at what to expect for this year’s new releases.
Among the new films premiering this year is Lin-Manuel Miranda’s directorial debut Tick, Tick… Boom! Although The Chronicles of Narnia is not included in the upcoming movie releases this year, Narnia Fans shouldn’t give up hope.
Scott Stuber the head of Netflix’s film division did highlight Narnia as a key upcoming project on the horizon beyond 2021.
Mr. Stuber said he was encouraged that “the quality of the filmmaking continues to grow” on Netflix but would like to increase the company’s focus on big-budget action films. He sees Zack Snyder’s “Army of the Dead” as one example of that this year, but is also looking beyond 2021 to movies like “The Gray Man,” starring Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans, from Joe and Anthony Russo (“The Avengers”) and a new adaptation of “The Chronicles of Narnia.”
