Director Michael Apted talks Dawn Treader

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader’s director Michael Apted has spoken about the filming of the third Narnia in Australia. In particular, he speaks about the decision to shoot outside, versus inside of studio space that they have at Warner Studios. He mentions that shooting outside was perfect for getting great ocean views in the background of daytime shots, and that the studios were used for nighttime shots on board the Dawn Treader and otherwise. He also speaks about just how long he’s spent in Australia on the film, as well as his return home in early December. The film wraps production on Nov. 27th!

  1. Paul, What exactly do you mean when you say, “The film wraps production on Dec. 27th”? What else is considered “production” besides the filming? I know it will take some time to add all the special effects, which is considered “post-production,” right?
    Thanks.

  2. Filming is production, and they are filming until the 27th. The wrap party indeed happened a week early, as I guessed in my article, having heard differently from friends working on the film.

  3. What I’m saying is, you have Dec 27 in the news post instead of what should probably be Nov 27.

    • Wow, thanks. I kept reading it as November whenever I saw it. Partially dyslexic. My bad. I guess I didn’t understand what everyone was saying until you spelled it out.

  4. If you go to the gold coast before the 27th, would you be able to view them filming like how you could at cleveland point?
