Narnia director Andrew Adamson moves to direct Fountain City

Andrew Adamson, who helmed both The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Prince Caspian (as The Voyage of the Dawn Treader was directed by Michael Apted), has signed on to direct another big budget fantasy adventure film called Fountain City, for Lightstream Pictures. There is nothing available about what the storyline of the movie is, but the budget is over $100 million.

Andrew Adamson and writer Joby Harold sold the fantasy-adventure to Lightstream, which is based on an original idea by Joby Harold. Harold is writing the script, which Adamson will direct. Adamson, Aron Warner, Tory Tunnell will produce the film, and Joby Harold will is going to serve as executive producer. The film, which is live-action, has no release date set. Lightstream was founded in 2007.

I’m not sure what the fate is of the previous film that Adamson was attached to, Mister Pip. According to IMDB, he’s still attached to direct that film as well, but it looks like Fountain City could come first.

    • Wish I knew. I could make something up, though.

It’s about a city that is made up of many fountains. In fact, they’re so obsessed with fountains that they build a wall around the city, and a giant tower in the center. Everyone in the city moves into the tower, where they set up greenhouses, and farms and everything they really need to maintain a sustainable and growing community. And as soon as everyone has moved in, they turn on the primary function of the building. Just then, it begins to rain, and we are taken on a sweeping view around the tower as the camera backs up, and we take in just what has happened. The city itself has become a giant fountain.

But that’s all made up, and not at all what the plot of the movie is going to be.

      • Haha, but it was pretty epic for just now thinking it up. You have the makings of a good fantasy author. 😀

        • ha ha! Thanks! I could visualize sequences while I was making it up. It only took about two minutes to think that up as I was writing it. I had a good time with that.

  1. What about the Narnia films? Will he direct anymore of them? Or is he leaving Narnia for these other projects? Still, I hope he’s apart of the Silver Chair

  2. Hi,

I am so please to hear about the upcoming fantasy movie. I am an Australian Aboriginal wanting to getinto the Entertainment Industry. I have had experience in photo shoots & modeling on the catwalk, but would like to have an acing career. My Family & I acually had the privalige of seeing the set of Narnia in Australia (Cleveland, Redlands – Australia). I live in Redlands City & came down to the set when it was at the Cleveland lighthouse. & later on got to meet ‘Peter’ down at the Gold Coast Timezone (surfer’s paradise). I am venturing into becoming a Talent Agency for Australian Aborignal/Torres Strait Islanders (Indidgenous Australians), to become actors/models etc.. I am wandering when & where casting calls will be held?? Australia? Brisbane?
