We have just received news that Group ( one of the leading producers of Sunday School, Bible Study and Youth Group Curriculums) is teaming up with 20th Century Fox and Walden Media to bring us, “Fun For the Whole Family Hour”. I could say more, but I’ll let the press release tell you…
Group, in partnership with Walden Media & 20th Century Fox, presents…
Fun-for-the-Whole-Family Hour combines the excitement of VBS with the thrilling adventure of Narnia in an experience that gets all ages connecting with each other and with God.
It’s one action-packed hour where the families in your church can talk, laugh, share, discuss Scripture, and worship together–and watch never-before-seen clips from the latest Narnia adventure. This film explores family-friendly themes like grace and transformation, giving families the chance to look at God’s transforming love in a new way.
Featuring FREE exclusive clips from the upcoming Narnia movie The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
WOW! That’s all I can say. That and why do kids get cool stuff like that!
Also it should be noted there is some speculation that this means we could be seeing the first trailer sometime soon. At this time,we can neither confirm nor deny when this will be. But you can trust us to let you know anything concerning the trailer once we hear of it.
UPDATE: Group’s website also has two pictures from VODT. You can view them right here:
I’m not sure if we’ve seen this before, but hey, it’s better then nothing.
UPDATE: We have been informed that the materials will be available for shipment June, 30th. Thanks to Mark Sommer for the updates!
I sure hope we get a trailer soon. We need something to keep us going, I don’t think I can wait 8 months! Also, I think its wonderful that Church groupos are getting so invloved with the Narnia films. I’m 13 and a few years back after the first film was released, my church created their own Narnia for us and it was magical! We had to enter through a real wardobe filled with coats. It was fantastic! 😀
Check out the VDT pic on NarniaWeb and Aslan’s Country. 🙂
Just wanted to let you guys know that at the Festival of Faith and Writing in Michigan, I attended a session about children’s faith in the Ramona and Narnia series headed by Randy Testa, who works for Walden Media. During the session, he showed the 50 or so of us in the session about 6 minutes of finished film footage. He said that we were the first public audience that got to see clips from the film. It was so cool, but I can’t say anything about what I saw. Sorry! But what I saw was really good, and that boosted my confidence in the film.
“That and why do kids get cool stuff like that!”
Well, it did say ALL ages…:)
I really hope somehow the clips will get on YouTube. Annnndd I hope the trailer comes out soon. My excitement level for tis movie is off the chaaaarrttss!
…Wait, is this something anyone can buy or is it a church-exclusive thing?
I think a Narnia themed VBS is a great idea! Sounds like Biblical and fun! Yay! 🙂
I sucked the oxygen out of the room when I read this; I think it’s an AWESOME sign that Narnia is being marketed back into churches like LWW. THat was a big reason why PC bombed at the box office, and this is great news!
I agree. They have clearly learned what works for the franchise ( December release, and marketing to churches) and what doesn’t.
Why can’t the trailer come out fast enough???? Those pictures are amazing though!
Actually, Prince Caspian WAS marketed to churches, but not as well, nor as successfully. For example, Family Christian Bookstores hosted events. See my reports from March of 2008: http://live.hollywoodjesus.com/?p=1727 and http://live.hollywoodjesus.com/?p=1815
This Group Publishing collaboration does seem to be more geared to families and better organized.
Huh. I didn’t know about those. Then again, there isn’t a Family Christian stores in my state ( MN.) which may have had something to do with it. But like you point out it wasn’t done as well or as sucessful.
All right! This is defiently encouraging in the way that they are going to be marketing VDT this way.
this is so cool!! man, i wish i was still young enough for VBS!!! i cannot wait for the trailer!!!!!! I am so hyped about this!! =D
Please note: I was informed late last night from an inside source that the materials will not be available until later. The Group Publishing website is now showing these available for shipment June 30, 2010.
I tried to post Monday, but for some reason it did not show up. The Group Publishing website is now saying the materials will not be ready to ship until June 30. 2010.
