Will Poulter Interviewed about Dawn Treader

Will Poulter, the actor who played Eustace in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader has been interviewed by the Daily Record. He expresses concern about his performance in the film and trying to capture the character properly in the film. From what I have seen, he’s more than met my expectations for the character. He’s fits the image that I had in my head perfectly. It makes me very excited at the prospect of him returning for The Silver Chair as well!

He was in Australia for seven months playing the part of Eustace Scrubb in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, which will be released this year.

He joins three of the film’s returning characters. Skandar Keynes, who plays Edmund, and Georgie Henley, who plays Lucy, have been in all three of the films, while Ben Barnes, who plays King Caspian, was in the Prince Caspian two years ago.

Will said: “It was nerve-wracking taking on a character who is so well-known. Everyone has a picture of Eustace and how he is.

“Trying to encapsulate that was daunting. I’m sure I haven’t been able to do that but I hope I’ve done my best. I know it’s annoying reading book then seeing a film and being disappointed with the character.”

Skandar and Georgie both gave him advice but he claimed it was too early to know how it will feel to be in such a big movie with so many fans around the world.

He said: “Of course it depends on my performance how I’m taken by the fans. It’s a bit of a worry.”

Will Poulter has nothing to worry about. And if what I’ve seen is any indication, he has a very bright future indeed.

  2. Will Poulter will do Eustace just fine, just like he did Lee Carter in Son of Rambow.

  4. I’m sure he’ll be a great Eustace. I think it’s good that he seems to really appreciate the characters in the book. I really can’t wait for this movie!

    • I totally agree. I like how he sounds rather humble about the whole movie-thing. Go Will Poulter! Sail on Dawn Treader!

  5. I think that as an actor, if you’re in a movie based on a book, however well known or little-known it is, you have to have a real appreciation for the book and all of its characters. You really have to want to do it justice, and you have to give it your best shot. And that’s really the most you can do.

      • ya! I really appreciate him not just seeing this movie as a movie he works on that he doesn’t really care about! You rock
Will! from what I’ve seen you’ve been doing an AWESOME job!

  6. Interesting. It looks like he is doing his best to stick to the character in the book, and terribly afraid of messing up his role. I’m glad to know that at least Eustace will be unchanged from the book. 🙂

  7. oh Will…I just know you will play the best Eustace! The actor that is worried about whether he is playing his character correctly is going to be wonderful at their part.

  8. AH! I had to do a double take! Skadner and Georgie look so grown up I almost thought it was Will and Anna from LWW!
Major props again to the casting directors in finding actors who could not only act like they were related but look it too!

  9. Well, I know he looks JUST like I always pictured Eustace! Will seems like a nice kid…and it’s good to see that since there have been allot of stinkers made when they became famous! 🙂
I am sure he will do a great job.

  10. He’ll do fine. We will all love him regardless of his faults. He’s new so we can accept if he doesn’t live up to the expectations of others. He’ll improve by each film he does that’s the nature of things. May the Force be with you Will Poulter when facing the fans.

  11. I just decided I really like this guy. So humble and sweet, you just want to give him a hug. I think he’ll be a great Eustace.

    • Yeah, I know, right? He’ll do great. I mean, it looks like he’s into the part, you know, doing his best. And you are sooooo right about the sweet and humble thing. I totally agree with you, Alice. Thank goodness he hasn’t gone “Hollywood” yet. I’d love to act with him!

  12. I was impressed by Will’s role in Son of Rambo. As the character traits are similar I am sure Will’s had done an excelent job. a little disappointed I didn’t get to see him more in the Trailer. Well done Will.
