The Matthew – a/k/a Dawn Treader – Arrives in Padstow

The BBC reports:

A little bit of Hollywood fantasy has come to a Cornish fishing village – although it was never planned to be that way. Due to bad weather, a huge sailing boat has been forced to take shelter in Padstow. Dressed as a dragon, the 77ft replica of the Dawn Treader features in a new Hollywood film as part of The Chronicles of Narnia series. It has been attracting a lot of attention in the harbour.

In case you were unaware, the Matthew has been transformed into a replica of the Dawn Treader as part of the promotional campaign for “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader,” which arrives in theaters worldwide this December.

The Beeb also reports that interested visitors should contact the National Maritime Museum Cornwall for more information. You can access the museum’s website by clicking here.

  1. i thought that this needed a comment. This is a cool idea! Love the way the ship looks. If only they could get it on land and at the premiere.

  2. wish i could go. p.s. if anyone enjoys reading my comments (I tend to leave rather long and insightful ones nowadays), and you would like to see more, i’m over at the dancing lawn as Helen Queen of Narnia. But I seriously would really like to go on the ship in England. If only I had my full passport, then I could go.

  3. I live where this boat is usually kept, and I walk past it nearly every week. My dad’s been on it with work.
