What was your favorite character in Prince Caspian (the film)? and how did it compare to your expectation of that character, after reading the novel? Also which character were you dissapointed with? Why?

My favorite character in Prince Caspian would have to be Edmund as expected, he really shows the maturity presented by him in the novel and also reminded me a lot of myself. You can notice the character development from one film to the other, and in the same film. Another thing you can notice is the swordsmanship techniques that evolved from one film to the other.

My other favorite character would have to be Prince Caspian, he was great since we saw his character develop from a sort of arrogant character into the king he was meant to be, and as Aslan says in the film that the insecurity he had was the proof that he was ready to be King.

In this film I had no dissapointment in any of the characters, since they were more or less what I had imagined, when reading the novel, let aside the minor changes.

In descending order, Aslan, Lucy, Reepicheep, Trumpkin, Ed, Glenstorm, Pattertwig, Caspian, Peter, Susan (that covers all the bases).

I agree, Edmund had the best role in this film, and Skandar did a great job.

Miraz would be my next favorite, because he was almost totally an invention of the film-makers (he's rather a buffoon in the books), and I loved his character in the film and loved the actor's portrayal of him.

Least favorite: Peter! Peter was a complete brat in the film, a terrible injustice to his character in the books. I hated that.

Lucy is my favorite character in all the books, and she had really very little to do with this film. That made me sad. :(

Oh, goodness. I hope Peter's attitude doesn't ruin the experience of PC for me, as he's my favourite character :'( Is it really that bad??

No, it won't ruin the movie. It's a really good movie, if you don't try to make it live up to the book. Just think about it as a stand-alone film, and it's really quite exciting and suspenseful.

I actually didn't find Peter to be a disturbance in the film since I saw it as a bit of character development, since he isn't still used to the idea that England is his home and not Narnia, that being said I don't think he liked the idea of having the narnians look to another person as it's leader hence creating a sense of jealousy in him, which later changes in the end, when he finally accepts England as his home and Prince Caspian as a leader and king of Narnia. Basically the filmmakers tried to make Peter their own character but failed misserably at that since most fans are used to the Peter of the books.

Lucy did had very to do with this film, compared to the book, and The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe film, but I like how she represents that faith in Aslan and captures that Narnian spirit.

Peter, though a brat, was my fav. I thought he showed how a real human could act, not how a book character would act. I can also kind of relate to him in many ways, and he will always be my fav. Susan and Edmund were close, Edmund at second, Susan third, and then Lucy. And I loved Aslan. Caspian was cool too, and Reepicheep rocked! But I voted for Peter anyways!

TFFS

Aslan, for sure... but I think that will be the case with all the movies. Then as far as the human characters go, it's Lucy, Edmund, Susan, Caspian, and Peter - in that order for PC. For animal/creature characters other than Aslan, Reep tops the list! Then Trumpkin.

My favorite has always been Lucy..but in PC,I'd have to say a tie between Edmund and Reepicheep.:)Thats actually pretty funny because I always disliked Edmund in the books.:pBut hes better in the films.:p

my fave character was Reepicheep, and he was absolutely adorable in the movie, but he's supposed to be really dark gray of black, not brown. I'm glad they remembered the band that goes around his ear and the scarlet feather though.

I voted for Reepicheep, but Ed comes really close. Really. I was totally surprised that they did so well with Edmund considering how they changed Peter and Susan. When he smashed that ice wall, I was like GO ED!!!!! :p

Sorry for the double post. Actually, wolf, in the books Reep was even bigger than that. I'm glad they scaled him down as much as they did; it made him more convincing as a mouse.

He was about 2 feet tall in the books,I think?:D
He was cuter small in the movie.

Urgh, a two foot tall mouse? That doesn't sound too nice.

I seem to have inherited a portion of my mom's distaste for mice.

Reepicheep was still amazing, though.

All around, I really liked Edmund. Obviously, a lot of the character focus was on the Peter development (I raise no objections against him, I've never actually FINISHED PC the book) and his conflicts with Caspian, so Edmund didn't have his big catalyst role that he had in LWW, but Skandar was an all around great actor. The scenes where he wasn't just sitting quietly in the background (especially the Witch, duel challenge, and duel respite scenes were quite awesome).

Come on, like anyone could replace Lucy. She was the best of the characters (although I do have to admit Edmund was great in this one). Heck, it was only with her help that the war was won.
