The Princess and the Frog (2009)

There was an error on the page when i tried to see it but i actually want to see it... I already knew they were making that disney movie but I think it's cool how the new princess is african american- now they have done a disney princess for almost every nationality- pretty cool to me!
 
Wiow, this is even more popular than I thought it'd be.
In 2004, a new CEO came to disney. One of the first things he did was shut down the animation department; after Brother Bear, all animated movies from Disney would be CG. In 2006, it was decided to create one last movie: Princess and Frog. After this, the animation will be permanently shut down.
Cell animation takes longer than computer animation; Bambi took six years, but Dinosaur took only one. The Lion King took twelve, but Chicken Little took two. It's less laborious, less expensive, and it's starting to appeal to audiences better than regular animation.

Oh. But I liked that animation... I love Disney classics!

I'm one of those people; I'm just repeating what he said...probably shouldn't do that anymore.
Two movies are in the works after Princess/Frog; Rapunzel and King of the Elves. Both are CGI.

Aww, that kills me. Stupid, cheap people...
I personally really like the "feel" of the hand drawn animation. It (to me) has a lot more character. I've never really liked any computer animated movies.

That makes me sad...

No! Please no! I'm glad this is the last animated movie by Disney! They have finally run out of ideas! Sure, their movies are classics, but they are all fairy tales! They add unecessary characters, and make them into musicals! And anyway, Chicken Little, Dinosaur, and Valiant didn't really do well in theatres! So I'm glad the new CEO is permanently shutting down the animation department, because the Disney Animation era is over!
 
I disagree, but I respect your opinion. Animation is what defines Disney; whenever somebody thinks of Disney, they think of animation. After Disney died, the Studio tried everything to keep the spirit of animation alive, producing such classics as The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. They're not out of ideas, they're just focusing their ideas on CG.
Honestly, what will people think fifty years from now? I like to parallel this situation with the Apollo program. Almost 50 years have passed since Armstrong stepped foot on the moon. Only eleven people followed him. It's been thirty-seven years since we last visited, and we won't again for another twelve! I'd hate to see that happen to animation.
 
I agree with hating to see animation die out, but I think today 2-D animation is considered rather low-tech(At least in my opinion). In CG animation, the characters seem more real than the hand-drawn ones.

Oh, and another thing: Another problem with Disney animation is that they make unecessary sequels to movies like Cinderella and Little Mermaid. They just can't stop with the original idea. Instead, they make sequels that are not very good. (In other words, the originals are still okay.)

I've always loved the animated Disney movies and it's kind of sad to see them go... I just hope they make movies that aren't sequels to really good Disney Classics. They ruin them.
Yeah, I guess 2-D animation is kinda low tech but I (being a child at heart) would like it if instead of totally calling it off doing CG animation and 2-D. I would understand if they did less 2D animation, but still...
