MERGED thread on Comments re: TV spots, trailers & publicity stills

speaking of cartoon network...since when does THAT channel have anything to do with narnia? I mean honestly...it sticks out like a sore thumb with all the other stuff.

I'm not opposing that its on there,it just seems weird to mix Fosters home with Imaginary friends and Chowder with Dufferpuds and dragons...

Fox clearly paid for the spot to feature a sneak peek. It's called publicity.

well DUH! How d'ya think PC got off the ground? Nobody(that was a non narnia fan) would've gone without Ben in it...why do you think HE was sent on so many tours and shows and not so much the pevensies?

They take something closest to them and suck it dry to get their product out there....I've got to stop reading interviews!!!

This past weekend, ABC Family was having their Harry Potter weekend as a part of their 25 Days of Christmas. A sponsor of the weekend has been the movie VotDT where they have been showing trailers galore.

One of them actually had Aslan's ending line (about his name in our world) and it sounded just about right.

That is one of the clips out there MrBob.

as close as i look and pause on that clip, i can not see how his shadow looks like a lamb. there is a remote possibility it can be mistaken for a sheep, but i still dont see it. ive seen the movie twice and looked for it on the big screen and still couldnt see it. if it is intended to look like a lamb then it fails miserably... why couldnt it have been alot smaller with a lamb shaped head, and all spindly?... if it isnt, then it is just peoples imagination projecting on to the shadow what they want it to be, based on what they should have had in the scene. just my opinion.

I saw that too. I was like " "! That makes it worth it to see the movie for me.

EDIT: BK, they've been adding new tv spots every week, and that was a new one; they had never shown it before this weekend as far as I know. It also ran with other programs, not just HP.

I believe I saw it even before this past weekend. It was in one of those threads in narniafans.com news section. I don't remember the thread and I don't remember the website either.

"Better than the first.."

I found it odd that they use this qoute in the trailer. It says one of two things.

1. The journalist who is quoted seems like they were not aware of PC, which is understandable since it wasnt marketed well.

2. They are acknowledging that PC wasnt that good and that LWW was the superior film.

I just found it strange since usually in sequels they say "better than the last one", or "the best one yet."

I find it funny, given the subject of this thread, that your siggy has "It was a real railroad accident." Seems Aslan shares your sentiment. :D

I never noticed that....what trailer are you referring to?

I don't know; they re-use clip footage for different tv spots. After this past weekend, I never saw the Lucy-temptation one...it featured a glimpse of Susan in the mirror, and I don't know what in the world it came from! And they've not shown it since. I only saw the Aslan one twice, but I also haven't watched abc family much this week either, so it may be running still.

I did see the trailer before Megamind and it had an unfortunate side effect:

It made me decide not to see the movie!

I think they're taking too many liberties with the story.
And it's going too much into the area of bigger, more, flashier special effects.

Chalk up another failure for a complete Narnia series.

Maybe if the next attempt after this one will be better.
And by that, I mean a completely new series, not the next movie, whichever that one is.

Um, why don't you read the reviews of those who have seen the film already before you decide completely? Even BarbarianKing has decided to see the movie, and he's been firmly against it.

Except, don't pay attention to the ones who say that PC was "closer" to the book than Dawn Treader. If PC was close to the book, that makes the Love Comes Softly series look good. And I don't know what world they're living in, but honestly, from everything I've read and seen, Dawn Treader is MUCH more like LWW than PC could ever hope to be.

I just came back from photography class. One of the students entered a picture that everyone agreed looked like frozen Narnia. :) Almost all of the students knew about VDT's release and were looking forward to seeing it. :)
