MERGED thread on Comments re: TV spots, trailers & publicity stills

I actually like the earlier movies for the most part, but I know how badly adapted they are. I wish film makers would stop ruining book adaptations!

BarbarianKing has decided to see the movie, and he's been firmly against it.

actually we're going to sabotage. I'm sitting by the projector and making shadow puppets, and I'm not sure what he's doing.

We're not going because we changed our minds,we're going because we want to see what they screwed up.
Oh and for me,its Ben's only other PG film I can watch.

Nooo... he said that he was so impressed with Will Poulter that he was going to see Eustace. He wouldn't pay money for a theater ticket just to see how they had screwed up...

That's depressing that you're only going to see Ben. In part I am biased because I dislike his acting and some things he has said about Narnia in the past. Regardless, I don't like it when people go to see movies just because there's an actor in it that they want to swoon over.

Um, why don't you read the reviews of those who have seen the film already before you decide completely?

I don't trust reviewers, at not least since I read that guy's article in one of our local papers. Basically, to explain, the only films he likes are foreign films with subtitles and everything else he trashes. I feel a kharmic pride that his favorites flop and the one he bags out are million dollar successes.

Secondly, I used to be much more tolerant of diverging from the book/source.
Then I saw a bunch of movies that made me not so tolerant. In order, Fantastic Four, Eragon, X-Men 3, Spiderman 3, Fantastic Four 2, X-Men Wolverine and Transformers 2.
Eragon is the worst offender, Transformers 2 the least offensive.
Anyway, after seeing all these disasters, in which the directors or whoever told whatever story they wanted and who cares about continuity or even plot, I came down hard on anything that was majorly deviating from the established concept.

And my father described the movie to me later, which reinforced my opinion that I should not go to see it.
