Thanks for saying hi. While I am basically retired with respect to The Dancing Lawn, I'm extremely busy these days. I have a national position in scouting and have published four books and co-authoring a fifth. Oh, and it's Dr. John Burkitt as of Nov 2013. All of that said, fame has not changed me. I'm just as stuck up and snooty now as I was in the old days... ;-)
Yes, I remember that incident you mention. I do not appreciate being lied to, but I am experienced in forgiving people. Therefore I would not refuse future communication with that individual who lied, and no more would need to be said about the past.

I disagree with your reading of what PoTW said/meant. As I read it, it seemed to me that he was saying some people just can't follow an argument or respond to it sensibly, and the ancient Greeks assumed such people were too ignorant to be reasoned with. I think we have to assume the same thing sometimes here and now.
