A Thread For LOTR Collectors

I don't think I would feel good owning The Witch King's Sword. Wielding it.. I would feel inclined to be agressive and maybe just a tad wraith like. :

He had a mask to go along with it, I don't think that was much of a problem for him ;)

I feel like a bad LotR fan but what is Hadharfang?

Don't feel bad, Hadharfang is Arwen's Sword in Fellowship of the Ring. According to the lore I know it was once Elrond's sword form The Last Alliance. However none of this information nor the sword itself I is in the books (at least that I know of) . :)

Ah, I do not feel like a bad LotR fan, I'm still good at the books :D

The nice thing about the swords of Rohan is they are lightweight, like that of ancient Rome. They are perfect for hacking and quick jabs. :)

The only sword I ended up splurging on was the Master Replica's version of Sting - it was a special at a con, so it ended up coming home with me and I've really enjoyed it. Nothing like handing it to a visitor to look at while surreptitiously flipping the switch so it suddenly glows blue and hums in their hands. :p

I have....um.... too much LOTR stuff... I won't even try to enumerate it....

I'm finding I really enjoy the smaller bits and snatches with time, the little 'books' that you look through and click to see pictures - got them out of a vending machine... The bookmarks and intelliblox, etc. My favorite Weta figure is probably Sam and Bill the Pony, but I really like Boromir and Merry too.

The geekiest thing I have is probably the mane hair from Shadowfax. A friend of ours got to curry him when she visited NZ and she pocketed the hair from the brush then doled one out to each of us as a fan-gathering, lol.... I also have a small foam stalagtite from the Glittering Caves.

It sounds like Primsong that you may have bested both me and Nessa. :D Your collection sounds devine and I am inclined to agree with you. I find that my favorite collectable pieces are smaller things like my card collection. Don't get me wrong though, I love my replica of Anduril and my enless copies of the books. But in end I enjoy mainly flipping through my binder and looking at beautiful cards. :)

You might enjoy looking at the various book-covers that LOTR has come out under - it's not an exhaustive collection, but I've slowly grown an online gallery of Tolkien covers because I like seeing all the variety of artwork, especially in other countries. - It's over here

I have a few book sets, I like the Alan Lee ones (love Alan Lee's work!) and the old Ballantines best.

I think one of my favorite collections just for its beauty is a set of lenticular LOTR cards I have, they're square and 3-d, just gorgeous, like jewels. I can't recall the company name just now, I'll have to check. (edited to add they're 'Action Flipz' - here's an image)

My goodness! I had no idea they're were so many editions! I myself collected different editions. I am captivated by Alan Lee's artwork as well as his contemporaries. My collection has grown vast, some by the master himself, others inspired by the movies. I'm always in bookstores scoping out what editions they have, searching for prehapes a copy I do not own, :D

Isn't it amazing? And that's with leaving out a lot of 'duplicates' - Tolkien's "eye" artwork, for instance, has been used and used and used in any number of colors on various editions. I really like his watercolor work, love seeing it incorporated into some of the covers. Nothing like what it 'really' looked like in his own mind's-eye.

There are so many cards to collect. If you want to collect them all you will have a lot of cards once the collection is completed :D
A little while ago I heard a noise from one of my rooms. Gothmog was fallen from the wall on my desk. Now he waits impatiently till I put him back

By the time I have collected all the cards my binder will be very heavy and I will have stacks of doubles. :D

Well you better seal that room and not lute Gothmog out or else he might summon the Witch King! :D

When I just lived in my home my Legolas doll was talking the whole afternoon  The button was stuck :D Gothmog better not release the WK otherwise I will throw him off my balcony :D

Primsong I had no idea you were such an avid LotR fan in addition to your extensive Doctor Who knowledge, you truly are amazing :D (and I am very jealous of you ;))

My favorite copy of the books is the one my sister has, it has the Red cover with the gold designs and it makes me think of Sam's line about their story being written in a real book with black and red letters ;)

She is most useful to have around :D

You guys are making me want to start a collection of some kind... ;) :p

She certainly is and she has a great knowledge of books and movies even though she will probably say she doesn't ;) But the lady really does :D

Start collecting something! Even when it's newspapers :p

It's only a matter of time tell he does, so you might as well throw him off the balcony before he does summon the WK. :D

I must say I was greatly impressed by Primsong's LOTR collection. Infact in another thread she mentioned she has lot of cards from LOTR TCG and is thinking of doing something with them. I asked her to looked for some cards I want to get and I'm hoping if she can part with them, to buy some. :)
