Anyone Else Looking Forward To The Music And Songs?

Me too. One thing I would like is for durring the ending for something very subtle to be playing as Aslan tells Lucy and Edmund, "In your world I am known by another name, and you have been brought here so that by knowing me a little here, you may know me better there" that can hint more at who he is with out altering the line to," In your world I am known as Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Here is my friend Billy Graham to explain more."

One of the things I loved in the Lord of the Rings films was that the Hobbit theme sounded like a Hymn. It gave the Hobbits a simple, homely and cozy fell and showed their deep bond. Composer Howard Shore even admitted to composing it in such a way. The Fellowship itself had it's heroic, noble theme. Then there was the theme for the Ring, which was acompanied by Sauron whispering to whoever was holding the Ring. Even John Williams did the same with the theme for "the Force" in the Star Wars films, or the theme for "the Grail" in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. A Leitmotif would say in words about who Aslan is more then words could.

I'm just not sure which hymn would work best for Aslan and "fit" in a film and into feel forced, or too cliche .Obviously, "Amazing Grace" is out for reasons it's the most used, and possibly over used hymn. Even an original song with a hymn like quality would be perfect.

Maybe whne Aslan is speaking that famous line to the Pevensies it cna play a famous Christian tune, like Emmanuel or something. ;)

I just don't think David Arnold's composition style is right for anything Narnian. All the Narnia movies need to have that tone that speaks of Wonder, Mystery and beauty as well as setting the mood for each scene. Hanz Zimmer, Steve Jablonsky, Harry Gregson Williams, James Horner, Dustin O'Halloran and even Danny Elfman have the ability to compose music like that. I mean if Danny Elfman could come up with a score that was as good as Black Beauty I would be enthralled. David Arnold, on the other hand, I would never have chosen. His compositions are great for James Bond (which is exactly what he's been doing) and other action movies set in modern day scenery but not for Narnia. His over-all compositional tone doesn't have that other-worldly quality to it. At least not from what I've heard him write so far. Maybe he will surprise me, but right now I have serious doubts.

And then of course there is Trevor Rabin, Michael Nyman, John Williams, Trevor Jones and Tyler Bates, all of whom I would consider to have good potential in making a Narnian soundtrack that is as good as LWW.

@ longingfornarnia. I agree. The only score of David Arnolds that I have is that of Independence Day, and as good as it is and as much as it has a rousing, patriotic feel, it doesn't even come close to the sound of James Horner's score for Apollo 13 or the "Hymn to the Fallen" by John Williams in Saving Private Ryan where they sounded serious, respectful, noble and heroic with out having the "cheesy cartoony sound" needed for a slame-bang sci-fi flick like Indepenedence Day. Granted ID4 comapred to APollo 13 and Saving PRivate Ryan is a bad comparison just because it is a completly different animal then A13 or SPR. Perahps, the better comparison is Transformers. Steve Jablonsky's theme for the Autobots in the Trasnformers films had a much more heroic, serious and nobel sound and that was absed off of a toy line!

But I will reserve judgment untill I hear a final product. He did the music for Amazing Grace which says he can do a veriety of music.

Namely, I really hope that he can pull off a theme not just for Caspian, but another, seperate one for the Dawn treader itself. Soemthing that when you hear it, it makes you "think" of the Dawn Treader. That was something I loved in teh new Star Trek film is that they finally gave one of the most iconic ships in sci-fi a leitmotif. Similarily I can never forget James Horner's "Southhampton" from Titanic as it perfectly captured the granduer of the ship. Even though I knew hwo the story would end, when I saw that ship ons creen and heard that theme, I honestly believed for a moment that just perhaps the RMS Titanic really was unsinkable. The Dawn TReader needs the granduer of the Titanic and the excitment of the Enterprise.

I'm pretty sad that they're changing composers. I hope they still use "The Battle," I love that song! It would be cool, crashing through waves, a big crash whenever it pauses after a phrase...
Still though, VoDT is different, more of an adventure story than any battles, and that should be expressed through a different "color" of music. So a new composer could be good but *sob* I loved the old one.

Oh my gosh, I had no clue they were changing composers also! :( That's really sad, I do hope they'll still use some of the main themes in the Narnia music... it will be sad without it. I mean, some new stuff too, but the old music is important I think. :(

No Andrew for directer and now no Harry... But I guess Andrew knew what he was doing when he picked this director. I'm sure it'll still be good. :)

Oh my goodness! They are changing the composer for the Dawn Treader?? Nooo. I own both soundtracks from the previous two and LOVE Harry Gregson-Williams.
I was just reading some articles online that said that Harry Gregson-Williams was doing the main themes for The Dawn Treader, but David Arnold would be doing the rest of the music. A collaboration perhaps? I hope so!

While I love Mr. Gregson-Williams' work, it is appropriate to change composers here, because the seagoing setting of "Dawn Treader," very different from any other Narnian book, makes a sharply different musical mood desirable.

I kinda know what you mean, but to me it's like changing one of the main actors/actresses to someone different.
I think I'll have to wait and see what David Arnold can shell out. Who knows? I may like him better. We shall see ;)

Answering the orgianl question by Lucy Fan, Yes! I'm looking forward to the music of VODT, I simply loved the music of the last 2 and hope that that the magic is recreated this time too.

I'm wondering what the end song is going to be

LWW- Can't Take It In
PC- This Is Home

So I'm wondering what VOTDT will be :) I'd really like it if Kutless did the song

After having heard a sample of the score in the trailer, I'm sincerely looking foward to the new score. :)
That is not a sample score. It wasn't even written by David Arnold; it's trailer music.

I'm still hoping to hear the old themes, as well as the new ones.

That would be positively spendid! Switchfoot already has been featured, It's time for Kutless. :)

I totally forgot about this one  but Regina Spektor's The Call was the end theme for PC....

I think This Is Home was the MV

Personally, I'm hoping for Jars of Clay or Tenth Avenue North.

But as for David Arnold, as long as he uses some of the old themes and uses new themes only to catch the spirit of Narnia, he'll do just fine.

I love the Narnia songs. I hope VODT's soundtrack will be as good as the other 2, given HGW's not doing the score anymore.

On a side note, the song that was playing in the VODT trailer at around 1:19, when Reepicheep climbs on the mast and the narrator says "You've got an extraordinary destiny..." Is that a new song for VDT? Haven't heard it from the other 2 movies.

Yep, I'm new here, so pardon me. :)
