I was wondering if anyone
was a fan of the show Stargate Atlantis
and who was your favorite character.

Personally,I like Dr. Elizabeth Weir.

Played by Torri Higginson.
I think Torri is so adorable and funny. She's hilarious.
You should see her do the splits,
it's here on YouTube.

But I like what she brings to the character,
the independance.

It is unclear to me why Dr. Weir was removed from the storyline. I thought there was supposed to be a romantic triangle thing there, with the hero trying to decide which woman he wanted, Dr. Weir or Tayla.

I like watching Stargate: Atlantis! :D

I always liked Rodney, even though he's ... stuck up. ish. you know what i mean. I also like Teyla. And the Scottish doctor guy...whose name I now can't recall.... >_<

lol

:p

Wow! that's impressive!

Torri must be "flexible" to do that without preparation.

Yes, I'm a Stargate Atlantis fan.

However, I haven't seen the season in question yet. It doesn't come out till around September on dvd here.

Like Ronan said in one episode, I always expected John to end up with Teyla.

By the way, John Shepherd, Teyla Amadin and Elizabeth Weir are my favorites.

But, did anyone notice how the actress was changed (Torri replaced her in the role of Elizabeth Weir) in the main series? Why didn't they just hire Torri in the first place?

"Pilot episodes" for proposed new shows are sometimes filmed more than a year before the soonest possible date that the show could begin broadcasting assuming it DOES get accepted. So actors who were in a pilot can't always wait around to find out if the show gets to move on to regular production. The same thing happened in the origin of "Babylon Five."

Yeah,I'm recent to it to.
But I've seen all the episodes,
because my dad has all
the seasons on DvD already,
so I'm all caught up.

In this case, we're not talking about a pilot per se, but a season-ending episode of Stargate SG-1. From the end of season 7 to the beginning of season 8, the actress who plays Weir was changed from Jessica Steen to Torri Higginson. The reasons are unclear. Higginson said that Steen had a conflict and thus was unable to commit to doing a regular series. But on the Jessica Steen fan page it says that the producers simply decided to go in a different direction. I liked Torri Higginson, but my wife prefers Jessica Steen (perhaps because she was a big fan of the show Homefront, in which Steen was a regular). In any case, Weir is gone now but probably not forever. In the Stargate world, it seems that no one ever stays dead forever.

Oh, and in response to the original question, I'm a big fan of Atlantis. My favorite character is Sheppard and my favorite episode is "The Storm/The Eye". I think Acastus Kolya is a great villain. Hopefully he won't stay dead either. :)

Well after Steen and then Higginson,
who came back to play her after Higginson left???

My favorite episodes are probably
The Last Goodbye and The Real World.
Which were both
pretty much Weir centered episodes.
But she is my favorite character.
But I guess I also like Sheppard and Rodney.

And I hope they bring her back for some episodes.
I really hate that they took her off.

They had me conned for a moment there, thinking that Ronan died; I was glad he didn't! And it was nice that Jewel Staite found a love interest before it was all over....except that her love interest SHOULD have been ME!!!!! She was by FAR the best-looking actress in "Firefly!"

But strange as it may seem, the thing I liked best about Stargate Atlantis was its OPENING THEME MUSIC--very heroic and stirring.

I also love the opening theme. In fact, I really like all of the music from the pilot episode. They put out a CD with that some time ago, and I used to be able to listen to the whole thing on RadioBlogClub before they shut down. Now I recognize any of the pilot themes whenever they're played, and I can tell you that during the closing scene in the finale they played "Atlantis: Our New Home", which was the theme from the closing scene in the pilot. A little bit of nostalgia there, and very appropriate considering how similar the two scenes are.

By the way, if Jewel Staite remains unavailable, I could also be VERY happy with Lexa Doig of "Andromeda" and "Stargate SG-1."

In my Navy days I had the honor of being compared to Richard Dean Anderson: shipmates called me McGyver because I always had my ever-useful Swiss Army Knife with me.

Lexa Doig is married to Michael Shanks (Daniel from Stargate SG-1) and they have two children.

Jewel Staite is also married, but fellow Firefly regular and SG-1 guest star Morena Baccarin is still single and available. ;)
