Behind the Facade

When Lacara finally reached the village, an hour or so later, she put Taka on the ground to walk and she paced towards the palace. She admired the various items in the stalls, but dared not get close enough to touch them. She made her way like this until she came to the open palace gate, which was made of alabaster. Taka stopped and gawked at the gate. Lacara laughed and took his hand in hers, "Come on, silly." She poked at him, as he began to laugh. Slowly they made their way through the garden and across the moat, which lead into the palace. Lacara ignored the looks some of the guards and various people gave her, continuing to show her pride. She entered the hall, where the petty court was being held. She stood in line and waited her turn.

I was gone all day *cries* :p

As the line grew shorter Lacara even wondered why she was there. She had no idea what to say; she didn't even know what she wanted. Finally she realized that this wasn't the way to go and she took Taka by the hand and left. As they were walking through the hall Taka looked up to Lacara. "Why are we here?" he asked, innocently. She bent down in front of him. She brush a lock of his ebony hair from his eyes. "I don't know..." she admitted. Just then she felt a tugging at her dress and saw a young man trip on her gown. She quickly stood up. "I'm so sorry," she said helping him up.
"Oh, no..." the young man brushed off his pants and looked up, his eyes meeting her raven shaded eyes. "No, it's fine." A glint appearing in his own sky blue eyes.
She smiled, "Well, I'm sorry anyways." Lacara looked down at Taka, "Come on, we must be going."
"Wait," the man started. "What's your name?"
"Lacara," she replied smiling. She grabbed Taka's hand and walked out of the palace.
