Although I haven't watched the program for a long time, I do like the idea of the destruction of Gallifrey being undone. If the rotten evil Daleks are allowed to keep on bouncing back again and again, it wasn't a lot to ask that the Time Lord race should be restored to life.

Agree 100%. Although I'm still annoyed by them getting rid of the Time Lords in the first place, especially as a result of a war with the Daleks. That's one of the reasons I haven't really liked Dr Who since it's return in 2005.

I watched An Adventure In Space And Time yesterday. Although it was a little silly in parts I thought it was an enjoyable programme, and it was fun to see all the '60s references, old TV equipment and all that. :D I felt very sorry for 'Bill' when he was let go - what a sad thing to be broken to him when Doctor Who had become such a big part of him.

I am going to send the link to my hubby for next time he needs a gift for me ...

I am watching through Torchwood now. At the end of season one, Jack disappears with the Doctor -- but I can't remember now what he was doing! In Torchwood, his team just carries on without him, and he doesn't explain what he's been doing when he gets back. Anyone know?

He went to the end of the universe. The episodes 'Utopia', 'The Sound of Drums' and 'Last of the Time Lords' take place while Jack is missing. I haven't seen Torchwood, but I did read about that bit on the (fairly accurate) Doctor Who wiki.

Oh, thank you! I remember those episodes; I forgot Jack was there, but now that you mention it, I remember. The Master thinks he has killed Jack at one point ... right.

Thanks!

"And the best part is, I get to kill him again."

In other news: I'm getting my parents into Doctor Who. Or at least my mom. I think my dad likes it and just won't admit it.:p

ROFL! I forgot about that line! I get to kill him again. Now I wil have to go watch those episodes. The problem is, I don't like the episodes with the Master! And I hated those horrible things he turned the people into, in Utopia. Scary and yet giggling. Yuck.

Your dad of course loves Dr Who. How can anyone resist?! :)

I thought he tricked them into thinking they were going to Utopia, and then turned them into those things. He was supposed to be their savior but instead he made them into his minions. Wasn't that right?

I just saw the Doctor Who episode "blink"! It was my favorite episode so far! I felt like Sally and the Doctor blended really well in that episode; I'm mad they didn't make her his new assistant :\

What did you guys think of Jackie and Donna as the Doctor's assistants?

They are actually called "companions" rather than assistants but in the episodes, other people talk to them as the assistants, I believe even the Doctor has said that sometimes. In the cannon, they are definitely "companions."

With that said, Jackie wasn't a companion proper. She was just along for the ride with her daughter Rose, who was the real companion. Jackie served a role of family connection for Rose, sort of like a place to always come home. She was there throughout two seasons so in retrospect, it was a hint that Rose's journey with the Doctor would end with her returning home sometime.

Donna. She was very smart and brave, but I really did not like her shrill yelling sometimes, it was annoying to me. In the end, I felt like most Whovians felt: that it was unfair to have Donna forget everything about the Doctor after all that she went through with him.

I loved Donna Noble! I thought she was the best companion. I don't know why, maybe because she was closer to my age and like a real grown-up person. All the others seem like young girls, don't they? And they're beautiful. Donna was like an average person, and kind of a ditz. I loved that. I agree with BK, it was unfair that she had to forget all about the Doctor. And wasn't it her crazy old grand-dad who knocked four times? That freak! I could have strangled him.

I like Jackie because she end up making the transition between two worlds, taking it all in stride. She's another sort of "real person" who does an extraordinary thing.

Did everyone read this story ...
http://www.viralnova.com/12-year-old-letter/

This little girl wrote a letter to herself to be opened in 10 years. The story is kind of sad, so don't read it if you don't want to read something sad, but the letter was precious. One thing she wanted to know, and asked her future self, was if Doctor Who was still on the air, and if not, which regeneration was the last one!

I forgot to say, Sally Sparrow couldn't become the Doctor's companion because he already had his companion at the time (and I loved that companion, Martha Jones, for me she is right up there with Donna) and Sally had her own story happening at home with that fellow ... whose name I can't remember ... I think it was better that she stayed with him.

We do not refer to Wilf Mott as a freak. We are very respectful to wonderful Wilf Mott who did not know that he was making a terrible mistake.
LOL! Well that's the point, isn't it? Why didn't he think before flinging himself into that radiated room? And why didn't he just stay in there himself rather than getting the Doctor to come in there after him? The Doctor was so happy to be alive, and then knock knock knock knock - old coot needs rescuing ... Sheesh.

He saved someone else's life by going in there! Remember? The room stayed locked until someone went into the other side. So it was either a scientist burned in that room, Wilf burned, or the one guy who might survive (the Doctor) went in there. And he did. And it turned out fine.
