Favorite Scene From The Lotr Movies

Speaking of Arwen, they edited out several scenes with Arwen and they did not put them in the extended editions. From previews, trailers, and clips I have seen

1.Some scenes with her in Rivendell:http://wings-immortal.net/lote/information/lost_scenes/extra_rivendell/5.php

2. Some scene with her and Legolas touching each others faces:http://wings-immortal.net/lote/information/lost_scenes/extra_rivendell/3.php

3. A scene where Aragorn and Arwen first meet each other. Aragorn's beard is shaven:http://wings-immortal.net/lote/information/lost_scenes/aa_meeting/1.php

4. A scene in Lothlorien where she talks to Galadriel:http://wings-immortal.net/lote/information/lost_scenes/arwen_hd/3.php

5. A scene in Lothlorien with her and her father:http://wings-immortal.net/lote/information/lost_scenes/arwen_hd/4.php

6. Famous footage of her at Helm's Deep. She was originally going to fight beside Aragorn during the battle. Her scenes were filmed, but angry fan reaction led to the writers coming up with new scenes for Arwen in the Two Towers:http://wings-immortal.net/lote/information/lost_scenes/arwen_hd/6.php

7. A scene with Arwen and her father on a bridge in Rivendell. Elrond leaves saying "I cannot protect you anymore:http://wings-immortal.net/lote/information/lost_scenes/reforged/6.php

8. A scene of Arwen looking for a book in the Rivendell Library. The book is probably the one she dropped:http://wings-immortal.net/lote/information/lost_scenes/reforged/3.php

9. A scene where Arwen hugs her father. This is probably once the RIng is destroyed, and she begins to feel better(remember how she was dying):http://wings-immortal.net/lote/information/lost_scenes/reforged/2.php

I have seen something with #3 and #4, #1 wouldn't surprise me, but NOTHING with #2...Not sure what the purpose of THAT would be in the film.

Better :)

1.Some scenes with her in Rivendell:http://wings-immortal.net/lote/information/lost_scenes/extra_rivendell/5.php

This is probably a result of filming a scene different ways and then deciding which one is best.

2. Some scene with her and Legolas touching each others faces:http://wings-immortal.net/lote/information/lost_scenes/extra_rivendell/3.php

They aren't touching each other's faces. ??? I know it SAYS they are, but yet no picture of it. Besides, since when do they even KNOW each other? I can understand why that was dropped...No book ANYTHING to back it up. ;)

3. A scene where Aragorn and Arwen first meet each other. Aragorn's beard is shaven:http://wings-immortal.net/lote/information/lost_scenes/aa_meeting/1.php

I wondered at this one. I have it on my computer, yet I never could place it. I doubt we'll see it in the connector either since it doesn't follow Tolkien's account of their meeting (though, maybe the 2nd time when they are betrothed, definitely not the first when Arwen hasn't fallen in love yet).

I've seen this too. It makes sense they'd cut it when they--thankfully-cut out her fighting at HD.

I've seen this also. Again, probably cut since there were "better" ways of having Elrond and Arwen discuss her choice.

"Famous"? Rather, INfamous. ;) Shudder. I'm SO glad they decided on other scenes. Those "others" are my absolute favorites...I would NOT have liked her being at HD.

7. A scene with Arwen and her father on a bridge in Rivendell. Elrond leaves saying "I cannot protect you anymore:http://wings-immortal.net/lote/information/lost_scenes/reforged/6.php

I've seen this in the trailers. Obviously connected to the other "red dress" scenes in ROTK. I guess they thought they already had the point across. :)

8. A scene of Arwen looking for a book in the Rivendell Library. The book is probably the one she dropped:http://wings-immortal.net/lote/information/lost_scenes/reforged/3.php

I have this one. Same as above I think. I DID expect to see it in the extended, but oh well.

Either that, or something from her other "red dress" scenes. Goodness, I'm sure the girl didn't wear the SAME DRESS that WHOLE TIME. ;)

Thanks for fixing the links so I could see the "evidence"!

Mabye there was originally going to be a love triangle between Aragorn, Arwen, and Legolas? And mabye in the scene where Legolas takes the Evenstar from the orc(after Aragorn fell off the cliff) he would have realized that Arwen loved Aragorn, not him?

I know it would be out of character for Arwen. But I still would like to have seen her Helm's Deep footage in the Special Features.

Well she was dying. After the scene where she dropped the book, mabye she felt very sick and she fainted or something. In the middle of the film we see footage of her lying on her bed saying "I wish I could have seen him one last time." So my guess is that if she is so sick that she has to stay in bed, she had no reason to change her clothes.

By the way you said you have seen several of these scenes. Do you have a link to them or something so I could see them.

Okay, I'm going to have to do this again...I lost my previous attempt. :(

According to fanfic and humor, there apparently is enough "evidence". ha ha. Seriously, the Aragorn-Arwen-Eowyn love triangle is enough with adding Legolas into it. If PJ had went that direction, combined with Arwen fighting in HD, I probably would not own the movies. I like Legolas as a character, but Aragorn would not be Aragorn without Arwen and tampering with that is just wrong.

I know it would be out of character for Arwen. But I still would like to have seen her Helm's Deep footage in the Special Features.

The appendices of TT does show behind the scenes footage, enough to give me an idea and to be thankful they didn't go in that direction. What they had was not only more faithful to the book, but also more faithful to the character of Arwen that Tolkien created.

After the scene where she dropped the book, Elrond discovers her hands are cold, which apparently is a sign she is or is becoming mortal. Since the book did not tie her life to the fate of the ring, as the movie did, I don't know exactly what was wrong with her other than the shock. I am still not sure if that particular scene (I wish I could have seen him) was actually happening THEN or if it was a "this is what will happen if you don't succeed" type thing. Sauron did use that visual against Aragorn through the palantir, but Sauron would have had no way of seeing that actually taking place. (His vision was not as "far seeing" as people thought...Rivendell was still hidden from him.)

And as for her not changing her clothes...Even when I'm incredibly sick I can't keep wearing the same clothes for more than 2 days, if that. :p

By the way you said you have seen several of these scenes. Do you have a link to them or something so I could see them.

YouTube, my good friend. Here is what I know for sure--

Super Trailer (includes Elrond and Arwen's hug and 2 "2nd age" girls running during the prologue):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPmwyRNw2Ao

ROTK trailer (includes all scenes mentioned between Elrond and Arwen, except the one pic of him standing behind her):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=biBfGS-C8EM

I don't recall where I saw the Aragorn and Arwen picture, but I'm pretty sure if was in some fan made music videos. Not on my personal favorites, but others I've seen. I've been watching them for the last hour. ;)

My favorite sence...hmm......

The End of Return of the King. Definetly. ;)

The whole thing on Mt. Doom and everything afterwards.

Edit: and Eowyn's quote 'I am no man' love that!

Actually, this isn't true. I read somewhere, a LONG time ago, that it was simply an Elvish thing. It was something they do to say goodbye. *shrugs* can't remember where I read that...probably on some LotR site a long time ago. But there was no love triangle there.

Stand-up-and-cheer moment:

"I can't carry it for you...but I can carry YOU!"

As for Eowyn, most girl-power fanatics choose to forget that Eowyn would have been simply massacred by the Witch-King if not for Meriadoc's timely intervention.

lol @ girl-power fanatics.

There were so many great and powerful scenes it's hard to pick my favorite so I will pick three:

1. Arwen faces down the black riders at the Ford of Rivendel. "If you want him come and claim him." Bravo Peter Jackson, what a major improvement over Tolkien's version. Glorfindel and Tom Bombadil were useless characters IMO.

2. When Eowyn takes off her helmet, declares "I am woman, hear me roar!" ;) then kills the Witch King and avenges her uncle.

3. At Aragorn's coronation when the hobbits start to bow and Aragorn stops them. "My friends, you bow to no one" then the entire assembly bows before the hobbits.

Hmmm... I don't think I can choose. I think there are a lot of great scenes, it's just so hard to choose... But I would have to say that I thought it was kinda funny how in the battle of helms deep Legolas and Gimli where competing on how many orcs they killed. I loved that whole battle in general really.

I just watched FOTR and am about to watch TTT again :D

My most favorite scenes?

All Samwise scenes. I so love the brave hobbit :D

There are plenty more favorite scenes but if I name them all you will read the entire movie on screen

I think It is difficult to narrow it down to one scene, rather I will list several contenders.

The Flight At the Forge -Arwen's stand against the Nazgul "If you want him.. come and claim him!"

The Bridge of Khazadum- Gandalf confronts the Belrog of Morgoth "You shall not pass!"

The Guard of the Citdel- Gandalf and Pippin's discussion "End? No.. death is but another pathway.. one we must all take.."

The Return of the King- Whe Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli and the armies of the dead come to aid Gondor (includes Legolas' fancy Oliphant kill).

I am no Man!- When Eowyn faces the Witch King and triumphs saying the famous line "I am no man!"

On the Third Day- When Gandalf and the Rohirrim arrive to save the day at Helm's Deep.

Red Sun Rises- Thoeden and Rohirrim come to Gondor's aid, the horns blow and the might of Rohan strikes fear into the hearts of Sauron's armies. "Shields shall be splintered.. spears shall be shaken.. a sword day and red sun rises!" (Note: this quote may not be perfect)

Wow, all these scenes are awesome. Like Mrs GGT, I have too many favorite scenes to choose. I like Eowyn's slaying the Nazgul and Witch King, that's tremendous. I liek Arwen's stand on the riverbank and the amazing white water horses that wash the riders away ... but my favorite scene may be in RoTK, when Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli leap out of the black ship. The bad guys are expecting reinforcements, and instead, they get the return of the king -- and he's mad! Oh, also, at the battle before the gates of Mordor, I think it's very moving how they show that everything is about to be lost: all our heroes are in the very most precarious positions and this looks like their absolute defeat, when suddenly, the ring goes into the fire far away and everything changes in a flash! I think this must really be how it will feel at the end of the world, should any of us live to see it.

There are some minor parts which impressed me after watching the movies again.

Sam - Just one more step and then this will be the furtest I've ever been away from home

Sam making a poem dedicated to Gandalf at Lothlorien

Sam following Frodo when he wants to leave with the boat. - Of course you are and I'm coming with you-

Even the most smallest things Sam does are memorable ;)
