Greek Mythology

I think Norse mythology is like the Vikings and stuff. But I could be wrong, I never learned much of that history. Just middle ages stuff. I do like the lesser immortalls of Greek myths. Like minotaurs and tauros. I find them interesting. Although as a girl I would never want the chance to meet a tauros.

OMGH!! i LOOOOVE Greek mythology!!! i LOOOOVE anything GREEK!!!
especially the Olympics!!! my dream trip is to go to Athens to see the ruins and the Olympic venues. My favorite goddess is Artemis.

I like Artemis too, but she isn't exactly bright is she? She shot her lover while he was swimming because her jealous brother (I think?!) told her it was a drifting log. I think my favourite goddess would be Athena.

I always liked Medea. she was just so cutthroat. it was great. I love reading the play and the stories about her. But I hate when people act like she was insane as an excuse for her actions. She knew what she was doing and was happy about what she did.

Norse is like I think mainly What the Germans believed for a while...They were vikings but not just that..their gods names were "Odin" and there was Loki and Freya and Thor and Thors my favorite of the Norse gods I think..he was so cool Loki is my least favorite! Talk about a jerk! and Loki's wife was one of my favorite goddess...

Of the greeks I could never stand Artemis..she was a pain..I liked Athena and Hera a bit though she was to jealous so much! Artemis was my least Fav.

Romans had preety much the same god systme but I like Heppahtus(or Vulcan) and Apollo(I think the Romans also called him Apollo)

Meada was an ok character I strongly disliked Jason he was such a jerk...

Did you like the movie, Troy? I thought it was horrible and really butchered the original epic.
no i didn't like it at all, it was so wrong compared to the original story. Achilles died at the end in the movie, in the story he died much earlier, and there were many other mistakes

yeah, I really didn't like troy. especially all the fuss about Achilles' love life. Most of the scenes were distasteful anyway and even so, Achilles was in love with his cousin. I realize that wouldn't appeal to as many people but they could have just let him be a warrior who doesn't care about romance. I did think this was finally a great role for Orlando Bloom. He got to play the pansy he really is. The only good part about that whole movie was Eric Bana. I wanted to walk out of the theater but I was too curious about what he would do next. Other than him the movie was a waste of time. Kind of like Alexander.

Greek mythology rawks. :D I especially like the myth of Castor/Clytemnestra and Polyduces/Helen of Troy, because their twins, and I'm a twin, too. <3

Yes, I love all those stories, but am epecially interested in The Iliad and The Odyssey. I LOVE Athena. She's my favorite of all the gods/goddesses. :)

I've read the Penguin edition of "The Iliad", but was rather frustrated that the Trojan horse scene wasn't in it. Does anyone know what book it is in?

the barnes and noble classics collection has the trojan horse scene in it. at least i'm pretty sure it does, i haven't read my copy in a couple years.

My favorite characters in the Illiad were "Hector" "Odyseus" and "Aeus" I think there was two with same name and they were my favorites...my least favorites were "Paris/Alexander" "Helen" and "Agamemnon"
and I kinda liked "Menalaus"

I think there's a Greek "post-Illiad" that contains the story, but the classic work that contains the story is the Anead. I think the Oddessy may also mention it. Form member Malacandra would certainly know.
