"First period I have english with you... second for me is history, then third is geometry.. fourth i have science (physics)... fifth i have lunch too, we have the same gym period... seventh i have home ec and then for eighth period i have french," jen smiled. they had a total of three classes together. that little bit of knowledge made her happier.

Awesome thought Brendan. "Well thats pretty cool, at least I get to see a familiar face now. Well, at lunch would you like to sit together? I don't really know anyone, but if you already have a place to sit thats cool too."

"Yeah, we can sit together. I mean today was kind of quiet... my friend and my best friend are together... so I really couldn't do anything about them... it'd be nice to talk to someone that has some of the same interests as me," Jen said.

Her mother walked out of the room, but her father kept en eye on them.

" So do you need any help with you home work?," she asked, taking a huge bite of her cookie.

Dr. Eric Havens, adoptive father to four Asian kids, met Dan with none of the guarded watchfulness Alipang had shown. But it could not have been by chance that while warmly shaking hands, he said, "Nice to be introduced to you, young man; have a seat and tell us a thing or two about yourself." When Dan was seated, the dentist added, "Chilena's 'little' brother--younger by about two months--is at his studies, trying to get ahead, because he still plans to work tomorrow night at the Pansit Paradise."

JASON:
Jason wandered outside. His Dad and Mom were arguing again, and Kaitlyn was nowhere to be found. He thought she'd gone to a restaurant somewhere at the end of the street. Maybe where Alipang worked. He'd been home from school almost three days, and all his school buddies seemed to have hooked up with people. He'd never admit it, but Jason felt lonely. He pulled the gray hood to his hoodie over his head and stepped into a poorer part of town. A mile beyond, and he'd be at the part where he knew the gang met. He'd just take a peek...just a peek. After all, whatever Alipang was involved in would be 100 times worse than anything Virginia could offer.

KAITLYN:
Kaitlyn dropped into a restaurant, she'd had enough of her parent's arguing for one night, and since last night she and Jason couldn't be kicked out so the two grown-ups could duke it out, tonight was the kid's turn to wander. Using money she'd found on Jason's dresser (probably from washing some old geezer's car) she ordered a chicken salad.

I'm so glad I met this girl, thought Brendan. He beamed at her, and said, "Alright awesome."

"No I think i'm good, do you?" he asked.

"Well, I do some sports... I'm planning to get a job as a intern somewhere, I'm not quite sure where yet..." Dan said.

"Yeah. Well, I actually had to be at a store about an hour ago... and now it's really dark... do you know if any taxis come by here?" Jen asked, scared to go to the store by herself.

She looked at her hands " AH, dad?," she asked, with a sigh then looked back up at Dan " All right," she told him, her hands where shaking she didn't like when her dad does this to all her new friends mostly the guys.

"Oh really? I'm sorry to have kept you, I mean I'm not, cause I enjoyed getting to know you, jsut that I didn't mean to distract you is all. Uh, no but I don't have a problem walking you there, I mean if thats okay with you.."

Dan shifted uncomfortable, not knowing what else to say.

"Actually, i'd prefer it if you walked me... i hate being outside alone in the dark..." jen smiled.

Eric saw Chilena's hands shaking, knew exactly what it meant, and said to her in Tagalog (which he knew Dan would not know), "Sweetheart, I don't mind that you had fun. But living in safety with us for most of your life, you haven't seen all the things your brother and I have seen. And any dentist knows that it's a whole lot easier to _prevent_ harm, than to _heal_ it. I won't stop you from seeing this boy, but I need to know who he IS."

With neither explanation or apology to Dan for the brief change of language, the father said to his guest, "Have you tried Huntsford Paper Products? They've been hiring some lately, and so far they've held out against mandatory union membership."

"Lets go," Jen smiled, and walked behind Brendan towards the grocery store. "So what do you do? Other than lacrosse and homework"

"I run cross-country in the fall, well at least I used to. I kinda fell from it as important tests came and it was just becoming a hassle to find time in the day to go run for an hour or two. I do like reading alot. I'm big into historical fiction novels. Call me a nerd if you want, but hey I can come back at that by saying, I'm so into the military." Brendan smiled. All he could think was don't be getting your hopes up, you know from experience, they've always been dashed in the past, it's like cycle.

"What about you, what are you into?"

Yeah, so, Copperfox just told me that there is no gang activity 'round these parts, so just to verify; Jason is in another town just a mile away. It will be called; Shilohville. Is that okay with everyone? ;)

That will work. Please invent a high school for Shilohsville. But let it be noted that Jason CANNOT EVER have heard Alipang say anything but BAD about gangs.

"Well, I run track in the spring, sometimes in the fall when I feel like it... I jog on Saturdays..basically Saturday is a really active day for me... during the weekdays I'm normally really lazy and just do my homework and then write articles... I love writing and photography."

"Hmm, maybe I'll go there tomorrow after school and ask them if they have a job opening..." Dan said

" I know dad I-I just don't want you to make him run off like you did with the others," she told him, with a sigh " And you can get to know him better if you like just don't do anything that make me scream and run to my room," she told him, looking at Dan with a smile.
