" I know thanks Mum," she told her, hugging her tight " I love you both I hope you know that," she told them, with a smile then trun to Dan " All right I'll be at the bus stop," she told him, kissing his cheek.

"Okay, I'll see you later, Chilena," he smiled and walked back home. When he got home he immediately turned to his homework.
 
Alipang, meanwhile, had been keeping his two little sisters occupied, building Lego towers with them and telling them stories. When the all-clear was given, he was glad to be able to resume studying.
 
When Jen was done with her homework, she got into her pajamas and lay in her bed with her laptop. The only thing she could think about was Brendan and lacrosse. She soon closed her laptop and went to bed, happy but tired.
 
Mrs. Katon waited by the phone, lips pursed. "Come on, pick up, Katie." She muttered to herself. "Pick up your cell phone, you'd do it for your friends."
"Hello?" Kaitlyn opened her phone and spoke without checking who it was.
"Honey?"
"Mom?" Kaitlyn shovelled some more chicken salad in her mouth. "What's up? Can I come home now?"
"Sweetie, could you call your brother? He chose not to give your Dad and I his cell phone number." Mrs. Katon sounded bitter at the last part of her sentance. Kaitlyn sighed.
"Okay, whatever." She hung up and dialed her brother's cell. He picked up. "Jason?" She listened closely. It sounded like he was at a party.
"Yee-ah?" Jason slurred.
"Oh, come on!" Kaitlyn said, mad. "I leave you alone for like, half an hour and you get yourself drunk."
"I'm not drunk." Jason said slowly.
"Well I'm not giving you a breath test."
"I'm not drunk!" Jason insisted. "I'm...I...I dunno. I never touched the beer."
"Where are you, I'm coming to get you." Kaitlyn told him. Jason closed the phone. "Jason!" Kaitlyn closed her phone and stabbed the chicken salad. Leave it to her brother to be the first in the family to become a black sheep. She decided to call Alipang.
 
Having dismissed Melody and Harmony, Alipang resigned himself to still further delay of his studies. In fact, he decided to be playful; for he guessed that his sister had just been told the hard truth, and she needed no harshness.

Stalking to his door without a sound, he then said, "Come in!" Once Chilena came into the room, he threw his arms around her with his old familiar shout of "Ambush hug!"

Brendan got home, said goodnight to the mum. He went up to his room, got most of his homework done. Most, not all. He popped in one of his favorite movies, Boondock Saints, and fell asleep on his bed watching it. Though, during the time he was awake, he could only think of Jen, with one big smile.
 
"I knew much more than I ever wanted to," Alipang replied, kissing her lightly on the lips. "One of them was Bob Ruthven; he assaulted Marcia Trent, which was the REAL reason why the Trents moved to New Jersey. The other was Nicky Hollengraff; he assaulted Juanita Escobar, who was left without sight in her right eye. As minors at the time, neither of them was even locked up for very long; but at least they know they're NOT welcome in Smoky Lake."
 
Jen woke up at some point in the middle of the night from a nightmare, scared to death. In the dream she and Brendan had been walking to the store, and out of nowhere a gang had appeared and began beating Brendan to the ground. She cried herself back to sleep.

Alipang and his parents have just made Chilena understand HOW serious are the reasons for their protectiveness to her. Alipang may be about to get into his most serious danger since coming to the USA, with Kaitlyn Katon possibly asking him to help retrieve Jason from gang territory in the next town.
 
" I was wondering why he did that now I know," he told him, placing her head on his shoulder " I'm glad I-I'm your sister Al I'm sorry I all ways fight with you," she told him, still with a tears rolling down her cheeks.

Jen woke up the next morning feeling a little shocked at the dream she had the night before. She woke up early, so she took her time getting ready,.
 
Chilena got ready for school " Al thanks for telling me that last night," she told him, kissing him on the cheek before she went to the bus stop.
