And money matters? No one can argue that LotR has a way deeper plotline, more detail, better imagery, and a better story.
Lol no i was just jking about that! :)
LOL about the money thing.

I must beg to differ, Elf.

Comparing the two is like comparing the book "Moby Dick" with "Island of the Blue Dolphin". Both have ocean going mammals in them, but they are completely different.

Both, in my opinion are wonderful. J.K Rowlings writing about a magical school where children go to learn how to be wizards and witches and fight evil is great. I have read all the books and seen all the movies. J.K. Rowlings writes in a way that gets you to really care about the characters, cheer when they triumph over evil and sometimes weep when something tragic happens. Her style of writing is completly different from that of J.R.R. Tolkein. J.K. Rowlings writes using a lot of conversation between the characters which makes it very fast paced.

On the other hand J.R.R. Tolkeins "Lord of the Rings" trilogy is primarily that of a descriptive style of writing. He gives you such vivid description of everything around you that you feel you are in Middle Earth. Just one of the movies had more conversation in it than all three of the books put together.

Now does that make either of them better? No...just different. Both can be enjoyed, but knowing the human mind as I do I know that we all have our favorites and it's generally based upon what type of writing we like if it is a book or the visual concept if it is in film.

Sorry girls I don't think Orland Bloom should be the deciding factor in the quality of a film. lol

Lord of the Rings totaly!! Harry Potter is so...so... bad!! I mean it is all black magic, its bad.

B....bl....black....black magic?????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Black Magic??????

Bl...black magic???
BLACK MAGIC?
Are you like, out of your mind?
HP is not bad.
It's a story of bravery, of courage, of proving and finding yourself! It's about friendship and love and over coming the evil things in life.
It isn't black magic at all. It's not bad, it's not evil, it's something that saved my LIFE.
Seriously, if it wasn't for HP, I would probably be dead right now. If it wasn't for HP, I would have commited suicide when I was nine.
It's the best thing that ever happened.
It is not black magic. Anyone who believes Harry Potter is black magic is in my bad books.

Okay, your probably exaggerating. But heres what I think...

Why? Why is it so bad?

Well, first of all, I don't beleive in magic only miricals (like what Jesus does). I have not seen the movies but in there dont they do magic, sorcery, the bad is displayed as good and the evil wins against the good. My mom heard from a friend about a book that she had read about the person who wrote it and she said she was a christian but then called God a liar and said that the Bible was a lie. Also, I strongly dissagree with the movies and books because a friend of mine saw them and then came back and said that they make you believe in sorcery and witch craft. My littl brother saw them and them and them came home and said that he was a magician and then he did all these moves that he said harry potter did and he expected a ghost to appear and pour down fire. I also wrote to Focus on the Family and asked them what they beleive on Harry Potter and the Bible. I can post the email they wrote back if you want. But, well, thats what I think. Sorry if it is too long

Heres some websites another user told me to look at:

Hope that helps you and me :D

And sorry I'm in your bad books :) Though I don't know forsure why ;)

Exaggerating? Exaggerating??? OH, no hun I am not 'exaggerating'! I am telling the truth, and if the truth ain't good enough for you, what is?
Yeah, I do believe in witch craft because of HP, but the good kind - not black magic!
And you're not sure why on earth you're in my bad books - You've insulted me to the last degree. You basically tell me I'm a liar for saying that Harry Potter saved my life. You have called what gave me an escape black magic. You have insulted me and I am never ever going to let it go.
Harry Potter saved my life. And if that's not good enough a reason to love it, I don't know what the hell is.

LOTR only for me. I want nothing to do with HP, ever. In the world of fiction, far too few have gone to such exceptional lengths as Tolkien has in creating a marvelous world for his readers. Long live LOTR! :D
True!!!
:D LONG LIVE LOTR!!! :D
(down with HP!)

10 years! Talk about effort!!!! :D

i'm casting my vote for harry potter.

i've been into the books since i bought them at a scholastic book fair about 8 years ago and i still love them. i tried reading LotR, but i never got very into them. though i must agree, tolkein is fantastic writer, just dunno why i didn't like them. i did love the hobbit, nice short n sweet book.

but if anyone's going to argue movies, please LotR wins hands down. as much as a harry potter fan i am, i really don't care for the movies.
