I'm concerned people have run out of good film ideas

im concened that people are running out of ideas for films. i have noticed that most new films are remakes or sequels.

Maybe... this is a topic that doesn't concern much of anyone but you?

People aren't running out of ideas for stories. I just finished what turned out to be a massive story (about 3 novels long) that I'm looking to get published. In my opinion, filmmakers need to find and film better stories. That's one reason why I think Lion succeeded while King Kong flopped (at least, in relation to the high expectations): Lion was a much better story. There are plenty of good stories out there, but it seems that filmmakers aren't turning them into films.

that's cool, PoTW, but I don't think that's what office meant at all. We're not talking about novels. i agree, office, there needs to be more creativity in Hollywood. Even movies like LWW are in my eyes a bit uncreative because they are based off of something else. A thing that's really bothering me is all the superhero movies, it's so unoriginal, you know?

exactly. the movies are good but they need more original ideas.

Oh, I understand and agree. I didn't tie by tangential comment about novels properly back to the theme - point was, there are plenty of good stories out there, it's just that not enough of them are being made into movies.

Indeed. It seems to me that often filmmakers underestimate the intelligence of those who want to pay for movies. A well done, robust story with decent characterization isn't that hard to do - I mean, look at The Incredibles, for pity sake! Lots of people were ready to dismiss it because it was a cartoon, but the storyline was engaging, the characters complex and well-portrayed - the whole thing resonated with people. It made a bundle, and it wasn't just because of Pixar animation (though that was impressive).

Yeah, Incredibles was awesome. That's not off-topic. That movie had the whole package. It gave people what they wanted to see, not this garbage they have out today.

Aww, yeah, didn't they come out with a Garfield 2? That's stupid. I actually saw a pretty good movie yesterday that didn't look like it had potential but it really did--it's called Click with Adam Sandler. It really does teach a lesson, which is surprising for Adam Sandler movie, and it's got a pretty good story line.

Hopefully no one will ever run out of good film ideas. And even if they do at least we have the other Narnia films to look forward to.

To me there's just a lot of useless, stupid movies out there that make you wonder what the heck the director and producer was thinking about when they wasted the money on them.
