Is anyone really scared?

don't worry. i know how you feel. but trust in andrew adamson. he's a narnia fan, he won't go too far. once again, i know how you feel. but think about what i just said:)

GAH! That would be horrid! Are you sure? I mean, they're just kids. Caspian is supposed to be thirteen. It doesn't have any grounding in the books at all.

*hopes it is all a bad dream*

But they're older in the movies. I read this on Narnia Web, and they're usually good with facts - I'll try and find it and post a link.

I don't know about you, but I am nervous that they are going to mess this movie up! There are so many things they could do wrong! (I am a real stickler when it comes to accurately representing the books.) I know that thing about a Caspian/Susan relationship was supposed to be a joke, but they could conceivably add something inappropriate along those lines! I was just thinking about Faramir in LotR, that's why I asked this. What do you think?

OK, cool, because I am not worried about global warming at all, and neither would Jack Lewis be.

I am worried about the grown man they have cast as Caspian who could only have been 15 or 16 at the eldest, 17, right? He's supposed to be about Peter's age, and they have cast someone 6 years older than William. This opens up all kinds of possibilities to changing the story, including an attraction between him and Susan which would be very far from the spirit of the books, even if it is just an attraction.

Hey, don't worry.. you're not the only one worried here. There are two factors that make me upset if I think about it enough.
A while back, I put up quite a fuss about Ben Barnes being 25.. I mean, 25 for cryin' out loud! I don't mind if he's William Moseley's age because they can work it out.. but 25 is pushing it a little. I could understand how they want him to be old enough for VotDT, but still... couldn't he have been 17 or 18? It would've worked easier than a 25 year old trying to play some young, insecure teenager. And since he's 25, they have to change Caspian's age to what- 20? I'm sorry, but I just can't see that, especially since Caspian had a nurse who he reunited with later in the book.
And, I still have something to say: The only reason why the casting crew was blown away when Ben Barnes auditioned was because he had many more years of experience.
I still say they should have gone with a younger actor. I mean, even if the guy was a year younger than Anna Popplewell it would've been ok.. Because it would've been acting, and it's not like they would've kissed each other!

And the Susan/Caspian thing.. I shudder at that. It's just wrong, you know what I'm saying? Apparently, both Andrew Adamson and Douglas Gresham confirmed there will be a little "thing" between Caspian and Susan. Normally, a little romance never hurt a movie, but if they mess this one up, I'm going to be very unhappy. Very unhappy.

i totally agree with everything you just said. lol nothing left to add...

The Caspian and Susan relationship is going to be in the movie. Andrew Adamson said that it was Susan's last time in Narnia, so by doing that it'd make it even more sadder because they don't want to leave each other. And then you could say why Susan stops believing in Narnia. Because she was so heartbroken. I don't really like the idea myself, but it will be very emotional.

Where did you read this? Do you have like a link or anything, because I'd really like to see that article...

T LWW was okay and i am stickler for keeping with the books and factual too but i hope Caspian will be good cause its my faveoirte one in the series i hope they leave Susan and caspian be giving her back the horn is fine as long as it is nothing beyond that

I agree with Pink Cheetah, totally. I think Barnes is way tooo old to be the Caspian of the book, PC. However, I do still trust Adamson, and so I think they probably have changed the book in a way which will still work for us. It will be good, but different from the book. If you look at LOTR, the films were a lot different from the books, but they still worked, really well. I trust Adamson will somehow pull that off with PC.

How old is Anna, anyway? If Caspian is going to be in his 20's and she is still a teenager, the romance thing would be slightly weird. What also disturbs me is, she is a revered queen from Caspian's ancient history ... I somehow doubt he would think of her as a hot babe! That would be as if Martha Washington turned up here in the USA, and some guy started scheming on her!

Yeah, except Susan wasn't actually married... But it would still be strange!

Mmmmmm... I am gritting my teeth and keeping my mouth shut about LotR... 'Cause I know you all are going to gang up on me if I do!!:p I'll just say I don't trust AA at all; not a smidgen, I tell you! *exaggerated sigh*

All we can do is wait and see. It will be what it will be. We can decide after we see it if we like it or not. I don't know how much confidence I have in the process...but it whether or not I like it won't change the outcome of the movie. As each movie progresses, they'll have less proverbial change to spend on what they change and how mad they can make the fans. I'm not the kind of fan where they can slap the word Narnia on anything and I'll buy it or like it...I have too much respect for the books and the author for that. If in the minds of some it makes me less of a fan, so be it. Narnia is contained in the 7 books that Lewis wrote for me. No more, no less. Sure it's in peoples' hearts, but it's a set thing for me and I don't like changes much. However...I'll have to wait and see as far as the movie goes. On the other end we'll see how much proverbial change, if any, they have left for further movies.

In the book, it seemed Caspian had more of an awed respect for Susan, instead of the *gags* hottness factor, like Inky stated.
Anna was born in December of 1988.. so, that makes her 18 or 19? There's a HUGE difference there.. that's teenager to grown man. *is majorly creeped out*

I don't like this at all! If this one gets messed up, I don't know if I will want to see the rest of the books adapted into movies! (in other words, I agree with Julie :p)

I had a lot of trust in Andrew Adamson in the beginning, and it's slowly starting to erode.

I really hope the PC crew knows how much this movie is on the line with Narnia fans.

Oh, well, if Anna is an adult, then a romance with Ben wouldn't be horrible. I fear a Susan-Caspian romance would be bad for the story, but I still believe Adamson will work it out. I am more nervous about this one than I was about LWW; because we hear these weird things about this one, and because they've cast someone so old for a boy's part. At least when we saw the actors in LWW for the first time, we could see how they all fit their parts. It's different with PC. :(

seriously considering that they magled LWW(my apologies to those who liked the film but the only thing they even tryed to work on was the dang battle scene) im kind of frightened that they'll mess it up as well. when they first made LWW andrew adamson just wanted to make a copy of Lotr and so it was somewhat of a flop. the witty lines by the children are replaced with stuff like: aslan believed you could...so do i... i mean Gawd! thatwasnt in the book. however now they simply want to copy harry potter and they'll probably tone down the christian message in the movies as well

Caspian/Susan relationship/?!?! NO way!!! I was nervous about the movie, but now I'm really nervous. Where did you hear this about Caspian and Susan. They better not or I'll sew!!!!!

I don't really mind... as long as its' of a good quality. I think it will be fine.

I am worried that a relationship between Susan and Caspian will highlight something that doesn't exist in the literature. Modifying the timeline and removing a scene here and there and simplifying the movie with small stuff is fine, but not adding a serious relationship.

If it's done tastefully and without emphasis (like, maybe they only hint at it), that would be ok w/me. Anything more, I think, would totally change the character of Caspian and make Susan look crazy (why would you get into a relationship with someone from another universe, knowing you have to leave???).

Doug Gresham was asked about it recently and he said that people needed to worry more about global warming than the issue of Susan and Caspian. I don't think it will be a big thing. They've got to know by now that the fans would absolutely hate that.

Remember though, that Susan didn't know she wasn't going to return till the end and that she may have thought that she could stay like she had before...who knows. I don't think it will be a problem. We'll have to wait and see what happens once it comes out.

Good to hear a new person's view Jess, again welcome to the forum!
