Jill's and Eustace

YEA !!! The chronicles of narnia have nothing to do with love or romance !! they're about adventure, friendship ...

You know what? I've changed my mind. Romance in any of the Chronicles of Narnia movies except for the Horse and His Boy should be kept minimal or have none at all. I recently re-read The Silver Chair, and although it would be tempting to make them fall in love with each other I'm sure C.S. Lewis didn't add any romance to take away from the real point of the story. Even though I think they will add some sort of romance between these characters, I really hope they don't make the mistake of them kissing at the end of Silver Chair like in Prince Caspian only to have the problem of unraveling and explaining in Last Battle that they were kind of like a 'couple' now. This romance thing just makes it confusing. So now I'm for 'no more romance' in the movies, excepting HHB.

Narnia

Only problem is a romance would be weird cause Jill gets angry at Eustace early in the book.

And if they are 15 being school kids could be hard I think... well to see what I think I ve posted on the last page of Hunt For The White Stag in the section Jill Pole: Who Should Play Her.

Well, there's already romance with Susan and Caspian, Aravis and Shasta/Cor, get married, so that's enough. We're not in Romeo and Juliet, even though I love it but, it's not the point of Narnia...:(

I agree that no romancing should happen in the Silver Chair, but in the Last Battle I see no problem. I just went through the Last Battle the other day and Jill obviously admires Eustace as brave and there is a stronger friendship . In the movie I wouldn't mind seeing Eustace being protective of Jill and holding her at times (like when they see Tash for the first time). Maybe there can be a touching scene just before the last battle and when Tirian arrives on the other side of the stable door he can see Jill and Eustace holding each other like the just feel in each others arms maybe a minute earlier.

hey, I was just reading TSV once again, and I think they'll probably make Eustace and Jill kiss, when they're in the underland, and they call each other by their christian name for the first time , that'd be A-W-F-U-L !!!!!

Heavens! Don't scare us like that!

Actually, to be honest I am a bit of a Eustace/Jill shipper, but there is a time and place for all things, and it would kind of ruin it for me if they went all Hollywood-mooshy on us. X/

no there's OBVIOUSLY going to be lots of romance at the end of HHB, it's enough, I hope the makers can get that

Well, that's a whole different story - quite literally. I almost wish they'd do that one sooner just to get it out of their system, you know what I mean?

I was just referring to Silver Chair in that last post, though. Here's to hoping they actually get that far. I'm always a bit paranoid that things are going to fall apart at the last minute.

Pole and Scrubb must never never kiss in The Silver Chair. That would be awful. And the same goes for Shasta and Aravis in HHB. These are kids and it would be totally out fo character. In the making of the Wizard of Oz there was an attempt to have romance between dorthy and on of the farm hands who became the scarecrow. Can you imagine how the movie would have lost all it's beauty. Innocent friendship between a boy and a girl is a wonderful idea to display in a movie. In the Last Battle it might be ok as I said in an earilier post because happens as much as 5 to 6 year latter. Jill and Eutace are about 16 in that book.

Powl, where is this talk of Shasta and Aravis kissing? The movie if it is ever made won't be released till 2015 at the earliest. In my honest opinion no more movie will be made after The Silver Chair. I don't think the interest will be there to to make more movies that cost $250 million a pop. I hope I am wrong. But this kissing stuff is just speculation base on the Kiss in Prince Caspian.

The thing about the Kiss in Prince Caspian is that the makers of the movie wanted to develop a coming of age moment for Susan. She is getting too old for Narnia and isn't coming back. I didn't like the scene, but I understand the idea they were trying to depict. The Silver Chair is not a coming of age movie for Pole and Scrubb. This is a story of an adventure of two kids and a comical guide. There is no motivation for kissing. Now yes it is true that Shasta and Aravis apperar to be older than Pole and Scrubb. Aravis is old enough to marry and even in a traditional middle eastern culture she would be about 14 years old, but the point of Aravis in HHB is that she wants to stay a child for a little longer and have adventures, not to get involve in a romantic relationship and be a boring grown up like her friend Lasaraleen. Now Lasaraleen would be an interesting character to cast for.

TimmyofOz you're completely right about Aravis and Pole/Scrubb, and I hope they'll make all the movie ...
