Chapter 1: The Calling of Fire

Princess Destiny Rose sat on the bench seat in the window of her bedroom. Today was no ordinary day. Today she had to greet her "guest" who had come for the annual Fire Feast. Today she had to act polite to men she thought were plain rude, and women who were so caked with makeup you couldn't tell what they were really supposed to look like. And today her parents, the King and Queen of Firan, insisted that she look for a suitable man for marriage.
Destiny sighed. She knew all of the young men she would have to visit with, and she didn't like one of them. She wished her parents would invite people from other parts of the Division [not set in stone]. They would not, and could not. They wouldn't because it would upset their Elders, and they could not because the people they would invite were not like them. They did not live at the base of a volcanoe, they did not have the power of the same element, Fire. No, the guests Destiny wanted to meet would not come. Those from the Water Region wouldn't, nor those that live in the Air Region. She knew it would be a disater if the Water "Elementals", as the ones 'blessed' with the powers were called, got together with the Fire Elementals. Not everyone had the power of the elemetns though. Only a few in the Division could master either fire, water, earth,or air. Destiny was one of the few. She knew there were others who could use the power of light, ice, plasma, and snow.
A knock sounded on the door, breaking Destiny from her thoughts. "Your Majesty, are you ready?" The voice ot her guard, and friend Flame sounded on the other side of the wood.

Destiny sighed again. "Yes, I'm coming." She stood, went to the door, opening it she stepped out into the hallway. "Alright, Flame. Let's go." She told the guard as she closed the door behind her.

Flame nodded and turned to lead her to the Courtyard.

Destiny continued to think as she followed Flame, she didn't think she would do anything to hurt any of the other Elementals, even Water. She knew several of the other Elementals, and even few of the "nomads" from several of the other Regions. As she neared the Court yard, her parents, adn their guests. Destiny prayed that she would stay calm, so as not to hurt any of the people she would see.

"Sir Kalen." King Aramis greeted the young man. "How are you?"

"I'm fine,Your Majesty, and you look as great as ever." Kalen said. Kalen was one of the other few Fire Elementals.

The King laughed, "Why thank you but we both know I'm not as young, or as small as I once was." He patted his belly, which was not very large. "Why don't you talk to Destiny while I catch up with your father." Aramis motioned to Destiny who stood by his side.

"I would love to."Kalen smiled at Destiny as he stpped over to her. "Your highness." He bowed.

"Hello, Kalen." Destiny greeted.

"Why don't we go out on the balcony, away from this crowd?" Kalen winked at her.

"Alright." Destiny let him lead the way out to the balcony. They stood looking out at the city. Ember glowed with all the lanters. Flame took his usual spot several feet behind the Princess. "Thankyou, for saying that to my Father. I tell him almost everyday that he is as small as he needs to be." Destiny said.

"You're welcome, and he does look young. How old is he?" Kalen leaned on the railing.

"Forty-years old." Destiny replied.

"He looks about thirty-five." Kalen looked at her. "You look very pretty tonight, Princess."

Destiny smiled. "Thank you." She thought she head Flame mutter somthing.

"Way prettier than ano other girl in the fire region. Or the Divsion. Those water girls are as ugly as rats." Kalen made a face of distate.

Destiny's eyes burned. "I highly doubt that, Sir.Kalen. How would you now anyway?" She hissed.

"I have seen them. I went with my father to the Water Regions Capital Aquarius a few months ago." Kalen causaly said. "Their Princess is the ugliest one of all." He knew he was making her mad.

Destiny knew it too. "Flame." She spoke the guards name, he stepped forward.

"Yes, Princess?" Flame had his hand on the hilt of his sword.

"Please, take Sir. Kalen back inside." Destiny ordered. " I'll come behind you."

"Yes, m'lady." Flame moved in between Kalen and Destiny. "Go on, Kalen." He told the man.

Kalen's eyes burned at Flame before he turned and walked back inside the castle. Flame lead Destiny inside as well.

"I am sorry." Flame apologized.

"It is alright." Destiny told him. "Kalen is a pig." She said.

Flame smiled.

They came up beside the Kind who was talking to Kalens' father, Lord Steren.
"Yes, Destiny loves testing her powers." The Kind was saying. He turned to his daughter. "Would you have a duel with Sir.Kalen, dear?" He asked.

"If you want me to, Father." Destiny replied, her blazing eyes showed her true answer.

"Where is Kalen?" Steren looked around for his son.

"Here I am, Father." Kalen stepped up to them.

"Ah, yes. His Majesty, has said for you and the Princess to duel." Steren explained.

Here is something I just wrote about my senior year. :D Enjoy!

Every school year you look up to them, you follow them wanting to be noticed by them, and you can’t wait to be come one. A senior. The senior class is the “top dog” class, they are the class everyone watches, and copies. Here are some memories from my senior year:
Our first field trip: Jostens. It was the end of the first week of school and all 7 Yearbook (Aquila) Staff members and Mrs. Hardy jumped into a church van and after a lunch at the mall headed to Jostens the publishers of our yearbook. There we met Hank, the cover artist who would draw the cover that we had designed for the 2008-2009 yearbook. Our Jostens Representative, Ben J, was there too. We chatted with Ben and hank while Hank sketched the cover. Half-an-hour or so later Hank held up the finished drawing. The seven- eight including Mrs. Hardy, of us are all pleased, and after taking a picture with the artist and his masterpiece we took our leave.
The next week past and soccer and volleyball season began. Starting my duty as official home game Line Judge, which I love doing. Some of the officials of the games remembered me from last year and one even offered me a job as an official next year. That Friday after the first game was our first – and last – Frosty Friday for a job well done the first two weeks of Journalism.
Time past and school was getting on its way. It was September when we, senior class, got one of the “senior privileges”: Senior Lunch. Our first one was on September 18 at Don Juan’s, which is a Mexican restaurant in Kernersville. It was also the day after Lori and Mr. Holley’s birthday. So of course we got the sombreros and sang. Our other senior lunches were: The Mall (Oct.), China Buffet (Nov.), Snappy’s (Dec.), Kimono’s (Jan.), and Pizza Hut (March).
Soccer and Volleyball ended and Basketball, the big sport at Woodland, began. The first game was on November 13, and that is all I remember. ☺ I watched almost every game of the season- home and away. I know I was disappointed that our Varsity boys did not get past Regionals. But many memories were made. Van rides, practices, etc.
The next event was one that every student, not just seniors, looks forward to. Christmas break and midterms! One day after exams my good friend Lee and I went Christmas. We headed to the mall and got his moms’ present, before heading to lunch at Chipotle. After going to Best Buy, Barnes & Noble, Starbucks, Family Christian, and the Dollar Tree together Lee and I had spent over $250 ($55 of which Lee owed me). One memory from that trip I will not tell because I do not want Lee mad at me.
Memories are shared everyday in class. Reading plays in Literature, goofing off in Bible, watching Dave Ramsey in Financial Management, and just having a good time as seniors. Senior Year is full of memories made on and in Senior Trip, lunches, classes, and pranks. My senior year at WBCS was a year I will always remember.

Well????

Just thinking....

Joe stood at the entrance to the pool area watching me. I took a running start and dived into the pool. I didn't break the surface until I reached the shallow end.

I turned when I heard a familiar deep chuckle. "How many times do I have to tell you, Joseph, not to spy on me?" I asked the young man once I spotted him.

"Many more,Miss. Katherine." Joe replied as he took the few steps to the edge of the pool. He crouched down and looked at me. "I can't resist. It's a hobby."

"Well," I waded over to where he was at, "you need to break it." I flicked a few drops of water at him.

"Sorry. I can't do that." Joe's dark eyes sparkled.

"I guess if you can't, you may join me." I pushed away from the edge and swam out into the deep end.

Joe stood, slipped his shirt off over his head, and dropped it on the ground before jumping in behind me.

I screamed when he came up next to me shaking his head, making water droplets plop around us.

"Thanks for the invitation." He teased. He ran his fingers through his brown hair. "Have I told you how nice you look wet?"

"Oh.." I put my hands on top of his head and pushed him down underneath the water. I quickly swam away from him knowing he would try to grab me once he came back up.

"Hey! That's not nice." I heard Joe call to me.

We played chase for a few minutes. Joe finally caught me, and trapped me in a corner of the shallow end. "Now." He breathed heavily. "Don't run- or swim- away from me again, please."

I looked up at him. "Why?" I squeeked out. He was making me feel small.

"Because I don't want to lose you. I want to be able to hold onto you as much as I can." He stepped closer to me closing the few inches that separated us.

"Oh." I tried to look away from his gaze but failed. "I'm sorry." I apologized.

Joe smiled. "You do look really...nice wet." He muttered before leaning down and kissing me......

Well..??????

My first official burb on Livejournal!

I've been meaning to write this ALL WEEK! here we go!

Joe and I lie asleep on our bed. Joe's arms were wrapped around me, I snuggled against his chest. The dark forest was surrounding me, I turned around in every direction searching for Joe. "Joseph!" I screamed my husbands name my eyes looking around. "Joe!"I called. Fear rushed deep with in my chest. I started running not knowing where I was going. "Joseph!!!" I screamed again.... I jarred awake.

"Kath?" Joe looked at me. "Baby, what's wrong?" He smoothed my hair back.

I could feel my breath uneven, my heart pounding in my ears. I pushed away from Joe, slid off the bed and rushed into the bathroom. Turning the spigot on cold and turned the cool water on my face. I pressed my hands against the counter and tried to catch my breath.

"Baby?" Joe came up behind me, he rested his hand on my back. "You OK?" he whispered.

"It was just a dream, Joe, go back to bed. I'll be fine." I gasped out.

"No." Joe began to massage my shoulders. "What happened?" He asked.

I explained the black forest to him after my breath was caught.

"I'm sorry." He turned me around. "Don't cry, it's OK." He pulled me close against him as the sobs escaped from me. "I'm right here, punkin'." Once my sobbing ceased Joe lead me back to our bed, where we crawled back on and snuggled back close together. Joe's arms were wrapped a little tighter around me.

I know it's not long but still.. LIKE?

Break up!!!

I sat with Joe in his living room. The TV was on but I wasn’t paying attention to it. After a few minutes Joe turned the sound down with the remote and looked at me. “What’s wrong?” He asked me.

“Nothing.” I shook my head.

“You’re a terrible liar.” Joe turned towards me. “What’s wrong?” He asked again.

I sighed. “The whole rumor going around.” I told him. “and I don’t want you to feel like you have an obligation to me. Or you don’t want to hurt me.”

Joe didn’t say anything for a moment. “You think I date you because I have an obligation to you?” He shook his head.

“No!” I cried. “ I just don’t…” I stopped, “I don’t want you to feel…attached to me.”

“Kandie, I date you because I love you.” Joe said. “You mean so much to me. “The look in his dark eyes melted me. “W…where did all this come from?” His voice sounded worried.

I was afraid to look up at him again. “I heard you and Lucas talking the other day.” I started. “I heard you say you felt like you had an obligation to me.” I then added.

“You thought that was about you?” Joe asked a small laugh was in his voice.
I didn’t see what was funny. “Yes?” I said it more as a question.

“Honey, we were talking about Mrs. Shore. I was saying I felt obligated to her because I promised her I would make her a new bookshelf a month ago.” Joe explained.

“Oh.” I felt my face getting hot.

“Were you thinking that I was going to break up with you?” Joe asked, his brown eyes looking straight into mine.

“Yea.” I nodded my head and shifted my eyes away from gaze.

“Is that why you have been acting so strange?” Joe lifted my chin, forcing my eyes upward.

I didn’t want to speak afraid that my voice would crack, so I just nodded.

“Baby, if you ever think or feel that something is wrong please talk to me about it.” Joe touched my cheek with his finger. “I’ve never once thought about breaking up with you.”

“I know you haven’t.” I told him. “ I guess I’m just worried.”

“What for?” Joe slipped his arm around my shoulders.

“Because I don’t want to lose you.” I reached up and took his hand. “I guess I have just felt like you didn’t love me anymore.” I drew a design with my finger on the palm of his hand.

“Oh.” Joe threaded his fingers through my and squeezed my hand. “ You do know that I love you don’t you?” He asked.

I nodded. “Yes, I know.” I squeezed his hand back.

“I love you now and I plan on loving you for forever.” He leaned down to kiss me but pulled back when he heard the voice of whoever had entered the room.

“Hey, Joe. Hey, Kandie.” Jane said a smile on her face.

“Jane.” Joe hissed his sisters name.

Jane looked at him the look on his face must have told her she had interrupted him. “Oh.” She smiled at him and it looked like she was planning on staying until she saw the annoyed look I was giving her.

Once Jane was out of the room Joe leaned his head down towards mine again.

“Joe!”

Joe pulled away with a sigh as his youngest sister bounded into the room calling for him. “Joe.” The child said again approaching us with a broken toy train in her hand. “Fix it.” She held the pieces out to her big brother.

Joe took the fragments from her and in three seconds snapped the wheel back on the train. “Now go play.” Joe told her holding out the toy.

“Thank you.” Jan took the train and skipped out of the room.

Joe turned back to me. He held up one finger. “Come here.” He stood took my hand and led me out of the room. It was a good thing too because we passed Jonah and two of his friends who were going into the room. I let Joe lead me to an empty hallway where he then turned to me, pulled me close, and kissed me.

I wrapped my arms around his neck, and kissed him back. Any thoughts I had of Joe breaking up with me immediately melted away,

“I’m glad I finally got to do that.” Joe said when he pulled back after a few moments.

I smiled. “So am I.”

Joe's Protectiveness...

“You need to stay off of our players.” The angry parent told Joe, who ignored him. “ You were fouling like crazy.”

Joe took the words, making no response. I stepped in between Joe and the man. “Come on, Joe.” I told my boyfriend before he said anything. He started to turn away.

“No, get out of the way-” The man called me a name and pulled me out from my spot, I tripped and fell wincing as I felt my ankle pop.

Joe snapped, he grabbed the man by the collar. “Wrong move, sir.”

“Whoa, Joe.” Coach (I have yet to decide on a name sorry) grabbed his player. “Go check on Kandie. I’ll handle this.” He told him.

Joe released the man and obeyed his coach. He knelt down beside of me. “Are you okay?” He asked.

I nodded. “Mmmhmm.” I mumbled.

“Kath.”

I looked up at him, the look I saw in his brown eyes melted me. “My ankle hurts that’s all.” I motioned to my ankle that Janise Guyer was already covering with ice.

“Mom?” Joe looked at his mother.

“It’s only sprained, Joe, calm down.” She told her son. “Nothing serious.” She held a bag of ice on my swelling ankle.

“Joe.” I spoke the young man’s name when I saw the fire in his eyes. “I’m fine.”

Joe nodded.

“You’ll have to carry her.” Mrs. Guyer said with a small tease in her voice knowing how much Joe loved to carry me.

Joe slipped his arms under me, picked me up, and carried me out to his car. Janise followed with our bags. Joe set me down in the passengers seat of his car while his mom put our things in the trunk. “Thanks, Mama.” He said to her as he straightened up and closed my door.

Janise smiled at her protective son, she squeezed his arm before heading to their Durango, where her husband and other three children were at waiting.

Joe got in the drivers seat but did not start the car. A few silent moments went by. “ I love you, Katherine.” He finally said turning so that he could face me.

“I love you too, Joseph.” I looked back at him. “Thank you for protecting me.”

Joe smiled. “It’s my favorite job, Kath.” He leaned over and kissed me.

“I thought that was?” I teased him.

Joe leaned back away from me and straightened his body. “That’s my second favorite.” He turned the key, starting the ignition, drove the car out of the parking lot, and headed towards his house

Teehee....so sweet.
