You get a headache, I get a sore throat...

My sentiments exactly. I was quite pleased when the last HP film was released. It marked the end of the petulent commericals that have aired for the countless years on TV, DVD, and theaters.
I get a headache whenever I think about Twilight anymore. When I was about 13, Twilight was what the Hunger Games is to me as a 17-year-old. I was ENTHRALLED by the books. And to be honest, I don't think they impacted me negatively at all. Looking back on the story, I can definitely say that it is flawed, and if I tried to read the books again I probably wouldn't enjoy them as much as I used to. But that doesn't mean that the series has no value whatsoever. The thing that frustrates me is that virtually EVERYONE uses the whole franchise as a mindless punching bag (or in this case, a target for gun testing). My question is... if you really hate the series that much, why waste your time complaining about it?
That's not entirely accurate. Just because YOU like something doesn't mean that someone who DOESN'T like it is doing anything wrong.Twilight is such a terrific series. I love every book, sentence, and part of them. People always have to respond negatively to what they are afraid of and don't like.

I still think that unless SILVER bullets were used...or a stake was pounded through the books...they would come back.
I once tried to destroy a DVD of Twilight with a high powered rifle. Problem is, my aim was TOO GOOD and the bullet went right through the hole in the middle of the disk....
I must say that the movie amused me and I have more than once considered completely destroying a book. I was given a book by a prof as a "you disrupted my class and stumped me to many times to not be recognized" gift. I will not lie, I considered burning it, though target practice would be fun too. However, I cannot and will not justify purchase of book for the purpose of destroying it. It is a waste money. The output to satisfaction ratio is just too low to even consider it.
My dispute with Twilight is multi-faceted. I am not fond of Vampires (even sparkly ones) in general. Also, anything that promotes a devaluing of human life or an era of promiscuity, or for that matter objectifying the human body has no value in my opinion. Twilight, again in my opinion, serves only to highlight what is wrong with our society. In addition, it makes being feminine into a joke. In all, it does far too much to promote values in girls that are as malignant as cancer. Objectification of humans encourages predation or the need to be preyed upon. From what I understand, Bella is too much of a Damsel in Distress and relies to heavily on the men in her life; sadly enough, that reliance might encourage someone to stay in an abusive relationship or seek out a new one after the old is removed. Encouraging promiscuity at all is abhorrent, the audience for Twilight is not emotionally ready for the consequences of Sanguine love. Promoting what has fundamentally been evil as good is also abhorrent.
