MERGED thread on Comments re: TV spots, trailers & publicity stills

I agree. It didn't look like a lamb, it looked like a lion. It's a nice thought, but the likelihood that it would happen is extremely thin. Again, if the filmmakers wanted to do a lamb, they would do a lamb. Only a few people would catch the morphing shadow. So why would they do it?

So that they don't offend non Christians who arent paying that much attention, yet can say to the book fans "There's a special little shot just for you."

Somehow I doubt that LWW offended non-Christians. THe non-Christians are ones who don't see the symbolism in Narnia, so "not offending them" isn't a very good reason.

But they've already stated they won't change something just to "not offend" a group of people. I'll find the quote if you want me to. If the lamb is not included (is this confirmed?) they must have another reason.

The main reason for not including the lamb was budget related. Because, as Specter has said (you may or may not know this already), to create a lamb-into-a-lion would be starting from scratch. With Aslan, and a lot of the other creatures, they already have a framework to work with because with the previous 2 films, they've already had that template to work on. With a completely new CG character (i.e. the morphing Lamb), you have to start all over with that character. With the dragon(s), and the Sea Serpent, plus all the other Narnian characters, they didn't have the budget to create a Lamb. And as Specter said, cutting out the other CG characters wouldn't have been enough money to create a Lamb.

I don't think Doug Gresham would allow the filmmakers to change something on the pretext of "not offending somebody." He might allow creative liberty, but not for the sake of not offending someone.

If the filmmakers wanted to show a morphing, they would have made it obvious. They are not going to waste their time to show a morphing that is only noticable to people who are looking especially close at the shadow at the right second. It would last over about three seconds, although a shadow would probably be the best way to do it.

NEW Theatrical Trailer Shows Tremendous Improvements

Check out the new trailer at narniafans.com or narniaweb.com.

What an improvement! The visuals look pretty amazing. The scene with Peter, Susan, and Edmund is intriguing. Are they at a wedding reception? Aslan and Reepicheep look different from the last movie (not necessarily worse, just different). Anyway, what do you think? There's lots to discuss!

It's ok for a fantasy story loosely base on Narnia. So they need to put all the swords at Aslan's table for true power to be revealed because Aslan has no true power, right?

If it was a matter of budget, they could've hired one of the best actors around. He could have pulled it off without charging millions. With years of acting experience, this was a no brainer. Why didn't they think of that?

Yes! It's such an exciting new trailer!!! The scene with Peter, Susan, and Edmund has definitely been intriguing me most of all to say the least. :D It really does look like they are at a wedding reception. I'm really curious to see what they show of Peter and Susan in the movie.
Also, the special effects really seemed to have been polished up! Absolutely amazing! :D Just something more to add to my excitement and happiness for the new movie!

Maybe it's Caspian and Lilliandil's wedding reception. :p

BK, even if the movie does come out a lot better than PC, you probably will still think it's terrible.

I just watched it for the 3rd time in the last 10 minutes, and I have to say, I'm impressed with it a lot more than the 1st trailer. The visuals are much better, Aslan doesn't look cheesy, but Reepicheep; I have an issue with his voice already. It doesn't sound like the Reep from PC, and that worries me because I loved him in PC. :( But overall, the trailer was excellent.

If you look closely at Aslan's shadow near the start of the trailer, he has lamb legs. Hint hint.

It looks like they mixed a lot of the original story in with some new elements; I hope it turns out well that way. Other movie makers did that with Legend of the Guardians: the Owls of Ga'hoole (which was based off of the 3 first books in the Owls of Ga'hoole book series), and it turned out really good.

Well, regardless, it still looks pure epic, and I'm looking forward to it!

 Good grief. I didn't notice his face changing shape...so am I blind or is it possible that some people are deceiving themselves into seeing something they want to?

SHADOWS CHANGE SHAPE! Anybody who has seen his own shadow knows that! Just because he has "thin legs" doesn't mean that his shadow changes from a lion to a lamb or vice versa or whatever the going theory is now. Honestly, there's only 2 people on this forum who think that's the case, so if the majority says that they aren't seeing it, doesn't that mean something??? No offense, but I don't think the filmmakers would go that far to please people. Heck, I doubt if they've even considered that.

Exactly, and since the majority of people on here have said that they see nothing with the shadow, then I have to believe that people are seeing what they want to see, not what's actually there.

There was one created for the TV spot, but I think there should be a consolidated thread for all trailer discussions...I guess since there was a new trailer, it was thought that there should be a thread for it...which Specter already had one in the News section.
