Mod Q&A Thread II

If memory serves, these are members who were once active, but have not been on in a long, long time. Their accounts were deleted, and their posts are labled 'guest'.

(I find this very annoying; you can't find other posts by the same member by clicking on their username, and you can't email them or look at their profile anymore. But sometimes these things are necessary.)

That's actually what happens when we take the unusual step of deleting a member. Typically we only do that for "members" who are created by spambots, and since they never make posts anyway, it isn't seen often. With actual humans that are not welcome on the forum any more, our usual route is to ban them, in which case their name "disappears" and they're identified as banned.

However, occasionally we have cause to actually delete a member, either by their request or for other reasons. At that point, any record of their name is expunged and any posts they've made get labeled "Guest". One reason we sometimes do this is to free up a name, for some reason or other.

That is sometimes a reason, though we typically only do that for people who've only made a few posts. This is because of the very "post orphaning" problem that has been mentioned.

Is there any way to change the title of a social group I created?

I'd like it changed from "Amateur Detectives" to "The Mysterians",please.:p

You're welcome!

MR: I can't, or at least I don't know how. I can't speak for the purple mods, though. They probably can see who added a tag.

You see the little 'Tags' bar at the bottom of this page (its at the bottom of every thread)? To the far right there is a button that says, 'edit tags' click it. Then type in the tag & click 'save changes' or whatever it says (something about saving...:p) Hope that helped! ;)

Now,why didn't I notice that before?*bonks head* ;)

Thanks,Kevin!!!:D

"admin" is the default name for the original admin account which is crated with the forum. Specter decided he didn't want to use the default account, for whatever reason, so he created his own account and admin-ized that one. M1th, on the other hand (the other admin) is actually a real person, who designed the forum skin. I think he had to be an admin so that he could add the skin to the forum.
