My First Fan-Fic

Finally, once they had all finished throwing snowballs at one another and having lots of fun, Susan dusted her self off and said, "Why don't we go back now. We've had our fun, maybe it's time to go home now."
"But shouldn't we explore a bit?" Edmund asked.
Peter looked at his brother and then said, "I think that Lucy should decide. What do you say, Lu?"
Lucy smiled widely and exclaimed, "I would like you all to meet Mr. Tumnus, the Faun!"
"Well, then," Peter said, "We'll go and visit Mr. Tumnus."
Susan shivered and said, "But we can't go hiking in the snow dressed like this; we'll freeze!"
"True," Peter answered.
"We could use the coats from the wardrobe," Emily said quietly.
"That," Peter said, "is a capitol idea!" He noticed that Emily was beginning to draw back into herself again. During the snowball fight she had seemed like any other girl, but now he could tell that she was putting her barrier back up again.
Everyone walked over to the wardrobe and pulled a coat out and put it on. Once they were all ready, the five children bundled off through the snow with Lucy leading them, chattering excitedly about all of the fun that they were going to have.
Emily seemed to be trailing along behind them, thinking. Peter glanced over his shoulder and saw this. He decided that he would distract her by attempting to talk to her. He fell behind the others to walk alongside her.
Emily saw him and smiled breifly.
"Thinking about your father?" he asked her.
She looked at him strangely and said, "Yes; how did you know?"
"A lot of people are these days," he answered.
She nodded. "He went away to the war."
"So did mine."
"Have you heard from him recently?"
"Yes, I have. Have you heard from yours?"
She glanced at him sadly and then looked away. She had tears in her eyes. "No."
Peter bit his lip, trying to think. "Why?"
"He died."
"Oh. I - I'm sorry."
"I know. Everybody's sorry," she said sharply.
He was taken aback by her rather harsh answer and said no more. Her defenses were up again.

Emily was silent for the rest of the way to Mr. Tumnus' house and she was very wary around Peter. It was obvious that she wasn't to hot on having another conversation like the last one.
When they came in sight of Mr. Tumnus' house. They all stopped short. Lucy gasped. It was a mess. The door was ripped off of its hinges and rubbish was heaped about in the snow around the door.
Lucy stood in shock for a moment before jumping forward and running inside with the others on her heals.
Once inside, they saw that damage hadn't been confined to the outdoors. The interior was mess as well.
Lucy was nearly in tears. "Who would do something like this?" she said.
"I don't know, Lu," Peter said quietly.
"Peter," Susan said, "Come and look at this."

Nailed to the wall was a large but ragged piece of parchment. On it was a message that appeared to have been written in great haste. Peter pulled it from the wall and scaned over it quickly before reading it out loud to the others. This is what it said:

The Faun Tumnus is here by charged with high treason against her imperial majesty, Jadis; for comforting her said majesty's enemies and fratanizing with humans. Signed, Magrim; captin of the Secret Police. Long Live the Queen!

Peter looked up at the others when he was through reading and Susan took the parchment from him and examined it as well.
"Alright," she said, "Now we really must go back!"
"But what about Mr. Tumnus?" Lucy asked. She was crying now.
"Don't worry Lucy, we'll think of something," Peter said.
"Why?" Edmund asked.
Peter rolled his eyes. That started an argument between Peter, Edmund, and Susan about what shoul be done. Meanwhile, Emily had put an arm around Lucy's shoulders and was doing her best to comfort the little girl. Something about Lucy reminded her of someone else that she used to know, but who was gone now. She tried to shake the memories off, but they kept coming. Finally, she became terribly annoyed.
"Oh, stop it all of you!" She said.
The other three turned around and stared at her in surprise.
"Arguing isn't going to help this any bit!" she said angrily.
"What are we supposed to do then?" Susan asked. She was annoyed as well.
"I - I don't know," Emily faultered.
Suddenly, from outside, they all heard a noise like someone had just 'pssted' them.

"What was that?" Susan asked rather sharply.
"I don't know," Edmund replied sourly.
Susan glared at him in annoyance. "A lot of help you are," she said.
Emily tapped her foot on the ground angrily. "Enough!" she said. "Arguing about stupid things is not going to help us!"
"I suppose you're right, Em," Peter said.
Emily started when he called her that. Only one other person had called her 'Em' instead of 'Emily'. And he was gone now, too. Peter had no right to call her that, but she said nothing.
"Let's go and have a look around," Peter finished. He had noticed Emily start and so had Susan. Both were wondering what could be wrong.

They all walked out into the snow and looked around for the person, or thing, that had spoken to them.
"Look!" Lucy cried.
"What is it?" Peter asked.
"It was a bird, but it just flew away," Lucy replied.
"I bet you scared it," Edmund said.
Lucy rolled her eyes at him and looked hurt but then Susan said, "Look, over there; what was that?" She sounded rather frightened.
"Where do you see it?" Peter asked, looking to where his sister was pointing.
"It's gone now," Susan replied. "No, wait; there it is again!"
All of them looked to where she was pointing now.
Something was moving about among the trees quite close to them. It was not very small, but then, it was not very large either. The five drew close together as they watched and waited for the creature to show itself. Then, it did.

A beaver scuttled out from among the trees, sat back on its hind legs, and studied them carefully before disappearing among the trees again. This time it hid behind one of the closer trees and motioned for them to follow it.
"What's it doing?" Peter asked.
"Probably trying to get us into some horrid trap," Edmund said.
"That's a nasty thought," Susan repiled with a shiver.
"I think it's a nice beaver," Lucy said. "It's trying to tell us something."
"What do you think, Em?" Peter asked.
Emily just looked at him and didn't reply.
Just then, the beaver whispered hoarsely to them, "Come further in!"
All five of the children jumped in surprise.
Susan looked at the others and asked incredilously, "Did that beaver just talk to us?"
Again the beaver whispered, "Come further in! It's not safe to talk out here!"
"I think it did," Peter answered his sister.
Edmund snorted in contempt.
"Oh, do let's go home," Susan pleaded. "I don't like this one bit!"
"But we have to help Mr. Tumnus!" Lucy said. "Let's follow the beaver." And with that, Lucy walked into the trees after the beaver, taking Emily with her.
Peter and Susan looked at one another and then they followed too, with Edmund trailing after them.
