My First Fan-Fic

Emily nodded in reply. "No problem."
The sounds of the battle ahead were growing louder. They were getting closer. Suddenly, they halted. So, this was it. The three girls looked at one another. Suddenly, they were all afraid of what they might find out there on the battle field. Were Edmund and Peter okay? Were the Narnians surviving? Were they too late? Well, in a few moments, all of those questions were about to be answered.
Lucy unsheathed her dagger and clenched her teeth nervusly. What were they waiting for?
Susan strung her bow and reached for an arrow, and Emily loosened her sword in its sheath. The Narnians around were doing likewise and waiting for the command to charge.

Aslan walked ahead of them, until he came in sight of the battle. The Narnians were tense and ready to get into the fight. Suddenly, the Lion let out a roar which seemed to shake the very earth beneath their feet. The sky shook and looked as if it might be torn in two. The Narnians shouted and charged into the battle, which had come to nearly a complete stand still when Aslan had roared. Peter's army, which was quite worn out by now, cheered as the reinforcements charged in to join the battle. For a moment, it was all chaos, and then, there was another roar, and Aslan lept upon the Witch.
A few moments later, the Lion raised his great head and said, "It is finished."
A great cheer arose from the Narnians, and the remnents of the Witch's army fled in fear. Susan and Lucy meanwhile began searching the battle field for Peter, with Emily close behind tem.

Peter looked up when he heard Lucy call to him. He turned quickly and his little sister nearly ran straight into him. He caught her and hugged her tightly, squeezing back the tears of gladness that rose into his eyes.
"Peter! I'm so glad you're alright!" Lucy cried.
Susan ran up and hugged him too. Suddenly, she pulled back. "Where's Edmund?" she asked.
Emily's eyes opened wide. Where was Edmund?
"He's hurt, pretty badly," Peter said. He looked numb.
"Hurt?" Emily asked. "How?"
"He broke the Witch's wand. She had been turning our people to stone left and right, and then he got the idea to break it in half. She stabbed him. He's over here. Follow me."
Lucy loosened the cordial in her belt and nodded.

Susan caught her breath when she saw Edmund. He was lying on the ground on his back, wounded very badly. He was unconscious and struggled for every breath he took. Lucy was the first by him, dropping to her knees and pulling her bottle of cordial out of her belt. Susan, Peter, and Emily gathered around him, as well; holding their breath, hoping that they weren't too late.
As Lucy unscrewed the lid of the bottle, Emily and Susan exchanged a worried glance, and Susan furiously tried to control her tears.
Peter clenched his teeth and waited, as Lucy put a drop of the cordial into Edmund's mouth.
For a moment, nothing seemed to happen. Susan was nearly certain that they had lost him. And suddenly, Edmund opened his eyes and gasped. He grinned at them and said, "Hello? What's everyone standing around for?"
Peter reached out and hugged his brother. "When are you going to learn to do as you're told?"
"Perhaps never," Edmund laughed.
Susan and Lucy hugged Edmund too and once they were through hugging, Emily shook his hand and told him that it was good to have him back.
Then, Aslan said, "Lucy."
"Yes, Aslan?"
"There are many others in need of treatment."
"Yes, Aslan." And then Lucy ran off among the wounded Narnian soldiers to help where she could, while the others began making there way back to the camp.

Once they were well on their way back towards the camp, Edmund asked, "Emily, what on earth happened to you?"
"When?" Emily asked. "A lot happened to me."
"I thought Lucy told you to come back into the camp yesterday evening," Edmund replied.
Emily shook her head. "She didn't."
"She must have forgotten," Susan said.
Emily nodded. "I'm sure. Lucy wouldn't have left me out there on purpose."
"So what happened to you?" Edmund asked again. He waited with a rather impatient look on his face for Emily to answer the question.
Emily laughed. "Since you're that anxious to know, I'll tell you that I was kidnapped. Marched to the Stone Table, and then marched back to the Witch's camp, where I must have sat bound hand and foot and gagged for the rest of the night, and a good portion of the morning. And then Susan, Lucy, Aslan, and the Narnians came and rescued me. And that's about it in a nutshell."
"What? No details??" Edmund asked. He grinned.
Emily shook her head. "No. I'd rather forget the details, if you please. Being kidnapped, marched all over the country side, and then sitting bound hand and foot was not a pleasant experience."
"Tell me about it," Edmund muttered.
Susan patted her brother's shoulder. "It's over now, Ed," she said quietly.
Edmund nodded. "I know, but sometimes -"
"Sometimes what?" Peter asked.
Edmund shook his head. "Nevermind. Like Emily said, it wasn't a very pleasant experience."
Peter nodded knowingly. "Then we won't make you talk about it."

Edmund was quiet for a moment, and then he grinned. "Well," he said, "looks as if we still have a lot of work ahead of us, eh, Pete?"
Peter laughed. "It sounds that way, Ed."
"Do you think we can handle it?" Susan asked softly. She looked a little nervous.
Then, it was Emily's turn to laugh. "Of course you can handle it! You handled this, didn't you? You can certainly handle ruling a country!"
"Yes, but we didn't do it alone, Em," Peter reminded her.
"I know that. And you won't be alone for any of what comes after this. You'll have Aslan, and the Narnians, helping you along," Emily said.
"Are you saying that you're not going to be staying here with us?" Edmund asked suddenly.
Emily bit her lip. "I suppose that's up to Aslan, whether I stay or not," she said. "For all I know, my work may be finished here. I may be no longer needed here."
"No longer needed?!?" Susan said. "But WE need you, Emily! You can't be through now!"
"You need me for what?" Emily asked. Not counting the talk that she had had with Aslan, it had been a long time since someone had said that thsy had needed her.
"It just wouldn't be the same without you," Susan murmured.
