*Sigh*
Since it doesn't seem like anyone cares I'll post the Prologue to another story I'm writing:
It was a cold dark night from long ago. From before the U.S was even a country almost before it twas found. It was 500 hundred years ago in the place that someday would become Ohio. Two men stood in a wood near the entrance to a tunnel. One had just come out of the shadows and was now speaking,
“Are you sure it’s safe? No one must ever find it you know.” He said his voice sounded like a snake’s and a fox’s mixed together to form a voice of menace and mistrust.
“Yes,” replied the other man shivering, “All the entrances but this, are closed.”
“And what of this one?” hissed the first man,
“How shall we seal it up?”
“It can only be sealed with the password.” said the second man who was younger and fairer than the other. The older man muttered something of a different language, horrible and evil.
“Now no one shall know of the secrets of the Tunnels.” Said the old man sounding pleased.
“Yes I suppose so." said the younger man, who lingered near the now sealed entrance even after the other had gone. “Now I suppose fair Jezule we shall never again meet.” He said sadly then walked away.
Deep in the tunnels though a girl waited and hummed a tune then began to sing in a fair voice:
Deep I wait in Tunnels of Doom
For a rescuer I wait
For the one who will break the spell that holds me in the Tunnels of Doom
To save my people I wait I wait
For one to come
Out of the Day
Come to save
One who knows the lost password
One who knows the lost password
Quietly the girl walked to a place where she had hidden a young girl, The girl whose descendant would save her people from the tunnels of doom as they were called. She picked up the girl who, still asleep, was no more than four years.
Suddenly the little girl blinked and asked, “Jezule where are we going?”
“They have sealed all entrances and exits but one,” said Jezule, “To that place we goest.” She told the little girl,
“But,” said the small girl “Lea please do not ask questions. You and I are some of the last of the Tunnel people, maybe the last.”
Lea asked no more but she wondered about much. Her older sister Jezule had taught her much how to live on wild fruit and plants, how to hunt and defend herself against wild creatures… But never had Jezule had such need for quickness and swiftness. Always they had gone calmly to the entrances then gone back but now… What evil had befallen to make Jezule like this she could not guess.
By now Jezule had taken Lea to the last entrance, or exit.
“You must go,” said Jezule “I cannot come now.”
She said “Why? Jezule I don’t understand.”
“You may one day.” Said Jezule
“For now you must trust me.”
“Ok.” Said Lea “But um Jezule,”
“Yes?”
“I’m still scared.”
Jezule laughed quietly and then said gravely “So am I.” “Now come you must go. That’s right stand on my shoulders now,” The little girl climbed out of the hole, “You must make for one of the farms nearby, the people there will take care of you.”
“You aren’t coming Jezule?”
“No,” “Not this time.”
“Will I ever see you again?” “No.” “But remember Lea, you must tell everything you remember to you descendants, and they must to theirs.”
“Why?”
“There’s no time! I hear them. Run Lea, RUN!” Lea had no choice but to do what her sister said. She ran through the familiar woods with tears running down her face. Lea ran and then collapsed on the doorstep of one of the farmer’s houses, thinking ‘Jezule please come back I want to see you again, please…’
