Narnia Quotes Quiz

Time to revive some old threads.

CORIN THUNDERFIST II said:
"Are you in charge of this 'ere young woman?"

I think this quote is from the policeman to Uncle Andrew of Jadis.

Next:
"Animal, vegetable or mineral?"

That one's a no brainer! It's from The Magician's Nephew!

Here's one and it's tough:

"I wish I could eat grass!"

Specifically, what the Bulldog asked Uncle Andrew, after the talking animals had captured him.

Correct, and it was not an unreasonable assumption by the standards of the time although, as we know, in reality Jadis was very much in charge of Uncle Andrew!

I don't know if I'm right yet, though - I can't think exactly where it's from. Bree does suggest that Shasta tries grass, as does Fledge to Polly and Digory, but I can't think of anyone actually wishing they could eat grass. I think it may be in a different context altogether.

Okay then... I'll give you another one, but you can still try to figure out the old one. If you give up you could tell me. Here it is:

"I'm sick of adventures."

Yes and yes! Okay, now this one.:

"Just like a girl, sulking somewhere and not accepting an apology."

I'm still confused - yes it was Shasta (in which case, where) or yes it wasn't him (in which case I think I need a clue).

Your new one is Edmund of Lucy when he goes through the wardrobe after her but can't see where she has gone.

I am sure Peeps is correct with the last question. As to the one about grass, I have either had a touch of inspiration, or I am going to make a fool of myself. Here goes: the quote was made by Digory to Fledge, whilst resting for the night on the journey to retrieve the apple from the secret garden which would protect Narnia from Jadis.

No, I wondered about that oo, but I've looked it up and I can't see that quote anywhere. Fledge does suggest that they try grass, but they don't use that quote.

I don't think there are any grass-eaters present when that line is said. It is someone on a long journey when they didn't have any food. I just can't think of where that is. Maybe Eustace of Jill in TSC?? I have a feeling it might be Lucy, but I can't think where. I just don't know.

The "I wish I could eat grass" I knew was Shasta, so I went looking and he says it when he is riding the ordinary (non-Talking) horse through the mountains after he lost the party including his father in the fog.

Does that make it my turn? Here's one:
"I wish you could talk, old fellow."
