Narnia Which-Way books

Hello, first time posting here for me. I am currently reading the seven Chronicle books for the first time (actually, I've read LWW several times as a stand-alone book). I'm loving them so far, and I'm about halfway through Dawn Treader (reading them by publication date).

Although I haven't read the entire series yet, I have been a big fan of Narnia for years. I'm eagerly awaiting the film(s).

My question is this: Does anyone have the 4 Narnia Solo Game books? When I was a child, Which-Way/Choose Your Own Adventure books were very popular. I once found this set of 4 Narnia-based which way books. They were really fun. One was called Return to Deathwater, another was called The Lost Crowns of Cair Paravel, another was called Leap of the Lion, and the last was called The Sorceress and the Book of Spells.

I've heard there was also a fifth Solo Games book, but my set only came with 4.

So, anyone remember these? If so, what were your thoughts?

I've never heard of those. Can you give us any more information that you've got about them?

Here is a link with a brief synopsis and pics of two fo the covers:

In case you aren't familiar with "Which-Way" books, I'll try to explain. These books aren't read cover to cover. You read a page or two, then you have a choice. Here's an example: You are on the island of Deathwater. You notice a pool of water with jewels and a life-size statue of gold. You might have a choice to take a drink of water (turn to page ___), test the water first (turn to page ____), or dive in the water and take the statue and/or jewels (turn to page ____).

Of course the best choice would be to test the water first. There are literally thousands of different story combinations in just one book. There are many different endings; some are bad endings (you die or fail your mission), some are OK (you survive but don't complete your mission), and there is one ideal ending (you fully complete your mission).

The Narnia Solo Games books took it a step further, allowing you to keep points based on wise choices. I usually read them without playing that part of the game, and they read just fine as a normal "which-way" book.

I have all FIVE of the available Narnia Solo Games. Here is a web page I created, years ago, to provide any interested persons with information about them (and yes, the page is still alive!):

Hope this helps! 😃

*Sorry, folks, but the URL is no longer active (and I've disabled it) -- my ISP's server died...

Well... the page WAS alive... but now it is dead.

So, unfortunately, the link I provided earlier will no longer work -- my ISP's server crashed, and they have decided not to repair it, as they have discontinued hosting web pages. My entire web page died along with their server.

(Siiiggghhh...)

Fact remains, though, that I DO have all five of the Narnia Solo Game books, and I invite anyone who's interested, to contact me, and I will "GM" them through an adventure in the book of their choosing:

1. Return To Deathwater ($48.50 on Amazon)
2. The Sorceress And The Book Of Spells ($149.99 on Amazon)
3. Leap Of The Lion (My favorite!) ($14.98 on Amazon)
4. The Lost Crowns Of Cair Paravel ($53.13 on Amazon)
5. Return Of The White Witch ($1,176.79 on Amazon) (!)

I hope to hear from someone real soon! 😀

I read some of those kinds of books when I was a kid. They were a lot of fun. That's really cool there are Narnia ones!
Long out of print, unfortunately. And may I add, getting harder and harder to find -- and very expensive when found. Just take a look at the prices on Amazon, above!) 😥

But, hey, if tbey were a lot of fun when you were a kid, I'd love to lead you through one now as an adult! Just send me a message letting me know which one you'd like to try......

I also believe it was illegal that they published the book. I'm not sure how they decide what books to put on their site.

Amazon has some expensive, some cheap versions of different books. Ebay has some interesting prices, including a four book set for $116 (US).

Oh, please, please, please!

Isn't there ANYONE here interested in letting me "GM" (guide) them through one of the Narnia Solo Games listed above??? I would love to, so very much, and I am so very lonely! It would give me a lot of pleasure (and you too, I hope)...

I would go for it if I had any time, but real-world responsibilities won't let me. Dancing Lawn member Wood Nymph is, in real life, a young disabled woman whose guardian I've been for six years. She has lived in a spare room (no wardrobe in it) at my house ever since her family got tired of meeting her legitimate needs. (My being a widower made this possible.)

Dancing Lawn member Wood Nymph is, in real life, a young disabled woman whose guardian I've been for six years. She has lived in a spare room (no wardrobe in it) at my house ever since her family got tired of meeting her legitimate needs. (My being a widower made this possible.)

The reason I've separated your reply into two parts is that your second statement is a complete non sequitur to the first, unless you mean to imp!y that Wood Nymph might be interested in taking me up on my offer -- which is, however, something you did not actually suggest. So I'm afraid that leaves me a tad confused, and as her guardian, I have no wish to address her without your permission.

The other concerning part is that, as a forum member, she has had every bit as much opportunity to see my message as you, but she has not seen fit to respond, which makes me wonder about her level of interest.

There's no non sequitir, nor a matter of seeing fit or not seeing fit. Wood Nymph's disabilities, including P.T.S.D. from former abuse, leave her with no energy to look into possible r.p. games. She isn't even >on< Dancing Lawn often: much less time than she spends in psychotherapy for her traumas. And my responsibilities largely >consist< in taking care of her.

Unless and until Aslan chooses to heal Wood Nymph, I will have hardly any available forum time beyond what goes to my fiction writing. At my age, I have all the more need to prioritize.
