It was their final night on Earth, Chloe and Joseph had prompted their families into a family get-together. And Joseph's Parents and Chloe's Parents were sitting at the dinningroom table discussing stories of when Chloe and Joseph were kids. It was fun to hear all sorts of silly stories. Chloe sat beside Joseph who defended her from tears whenever everything became to much. Squeezing her hands Joseph nodded toward the other end of the room where Roman had fallen asleep watching Tarzan. Teresa, Chloe's little sister had already fallen asleep a long time before, and Chloe had dealt with that goodbye as well as could be expected. Standing, tears filled Chloe's eyes as she turned off the TV and carried her little brother upstairs and onto his bed. Laying him down she covered him, gently tucking the blanket in around him. Sobbing softly, Chloe pushed his hair back from his face. "Chloe..." Joseph said as kneeled beside her on the floor, holding her, he spoke gently. Crying against him, Chloe collapsed. It was becoming too much. "Shhhh...." Joseph said rocking her slightly. He too suffered, but he knew Chloe suffered ten times as much. Once she had regained her composure, he helped her to the bathroom letting her wash off her face. Holding her hand in his, he led her back down stairs to where the adults were laughing and joking around. Sitting the listened in. It was a mix of politics and Church discussions. It was interesting. Joining in Joseph and Chloe laughed and joked right along with the adults...
It was late when Joseph's family returned home. Chloe sat in the living room drinking hot chocolate after she and her stepmother had cleaned everything. Bidding her family goodnight, Chloe waited until she heard their door close and knew they were in bed. Crossing the room leaving her mug on the couch, Chloe walked to her bedroom. Changing her clothes she opened her window. Placing her backpack on the porch outside her room she waited. The sound of Joseph's approaching truck made Chloe's heart ache. Tossing her backpack onto the ground, Chloe climbed down off the porch and onto the ground below. Running up the stairs she took one last long look at her house. "Goodbye," she whispered. Turning away, and running up to Joseph's truck she jumped in. Arriving at the meadow they had chosen to wait at, Chloe and Joseph stepped out of the truck. Grabbing their appropriate bags Chloe and Joseph jogged into the center of the feild. Gripping his hand tightly they waited in the darkness, praying, crying and holding each other. It would soon be time for the sun to rise and to return to Narnia....
