Thought Sir Balin and his knights had defeated the enemy at the boarder, there battle wasn't finished yet. For during there travel back to Cair Paraval at nightfall, they where attacked by strange shadowey creatures. Sir Balin swing hsi sword tried to strike one of the wraiths, but he was thrown off his horse. And on the ground he was lifted up and thrown into a tree and knocked out. When he awoke, he found himself and many of the knights in a dark, musty and moist cavern. Adn when Balin looked around, he saw skeletons and corps alying about with chains bound to them. Balin looknig down at his legs, saw he was bound by chains. As he looked around some more, he found strange marknigs written on the wall. As he examend them, a vocie spoke out of the darkness "It's no use, I've studied them for years and only coem to know a few words". Balin turned and saw in the darkness a man with a snowy-white beard, "who are you?" asked Balin. "My name is Goule Fatcher, I use to be Grave keeper" replied the old man. "I see, well what is a grave keepr like you donig down here?" asked Sir Balin. The old man moved foward a bit and said "I should ask you what is a knight like you donig here and you'd respond the same". "I was taken here by the shadows" said Goule. "So where we" said Balin. "But where are we?" asked Blain rubbing his head. "We are in the Kript of Darkness"-"A holding place for there victims" replied Goule. "what do they want?" asked Balin. "It's hard to say, for I've never in all my time here, been able to figure that out". "But what I do know is there lead by somthing far more terrible and far more evil" said Goule. "Adn who or what is that?" asked Balin. "Well some have believed him to be a magician, but I say he's far to powerful to be that"-"I think he's a wizard or a Dark Tryant of some sort" replied Goule. Balin was quite after hearing this and he began to think of ways of escaping. And after a long pause Balin asked "Are we still in Narnia or are we somewhere eastward?". Goule laying against the hard stone replied "We are a long way from there knight". Balin then moving closer asked "Then where are we?". The old man looknig deep within Balin's eyes said "We are far east, somewhere on an island, I think". "But it has been a long time since I was in those lands" said Goule with a sigh. "How long?" asked Balin with a shockedl ook on his face. "about fifteen years, at least as far as I can remember" replied Goule. "By the lion's mane, that is a long time!" said Balin. "Yes, it has been so long"-"I wish they would spare me the torture and end my suffering" said Goule with a grown. "Well sir, if we escape..." said Balin as he was intrupted. "There won't be any escaping, don't you get it"-"once you've been captured by the wizard, forever his captive you become". "There is no escape from this place, I've tried and every time he figures it out or those terrible wraiths catch me" said Goule. "It's no use" said Goule. "Well I refuse to give up so easily, there must be a way" said Balin with a stern voice. "Brave are your words and galient you be knight"-"But I tell you there is no escape". "The only way out of here is if they come to take you or by death" said Goule. "Well then I guess The'll have to take me then" said Balin. "Oh you shoulden't wish that, for anyone who is taken never comes back!" said Goule with a horrified look on his face. For a while no one spoke, and only the echoes of doors slamming and the cold wind' blow could be heard. as Balin rested agaisnt the stone wall, he began to whisper words to himself 'stay strong, we'll make out of this, Aslan is on are side', and for a while he did this. Durinbg this time several of the knights awoke and began rubbing there heads and wondering where they where. Balin and Goule explaned the situation, and in the end it may have been better had they said nothing at all. The time in the darkness seemed to last an eternity, for each minute felt like an hour and each hour like a day, until no one knew what time it was anymore.
