I hate critics! When they said that someone's acting is wooden, what the bloody hell do they exactly mean by it? William's acting was far from wooden -- if I translated it correctly, wooden means flat, or bland, or without flavor -- and thus, I believe that William did an excellent job portraying the role of Peter Pevensie.

All of them did an excellent job with the acting bit. Those stupid critics are being paid by Warner Brothers to bad-mouth the children because they know that Disney chose better actors for the Narnia series than Warner for ---!

Anyway, I hate them. I think those who said that William's acting was wooden obviously doesn't know the character in the book at all.

I know what you mean about the critics...
lol when they said Will's acting was wooden, I think it meant sorta emotionless or he just wasn't really in the part. But I think he did an excellent job with emotions (mostly his facial expressions, you all know how I love those :D ) Besides, how would the critics know how Peter is supposed to act? Its not like their point of view is the way CS Lewis had envisioned him.
OH well at least everyone here thinks he did a great job.

I still can't think of a good reason for why they thought that........*thinks harder* Nope, I got nuthing...

too true
it could be dangerous to talk bad about will's acting...
jk i respect people's opinions
just dont agree with them

wow, i couldn't agree more with what those critics and Asphodel said about will's acting. i thought it was extremely stiff and unbelievable--and you guys don't have to attack someone just because they're not a "fangirl". i bet you wouldn't think twice about a person's acting skills if you thought they were ugly. and i'm just being honest, please don't attack.

and you kinda just labeled all of the people who agree with you on this forum, gentle susan. reinforces my point. the only reason you like these people is because you find them attractive, has nothing to do with their acting ability.

Thanks but even if I didn't fancy William, I still would think his acting skills were great. Let's admit it, he's not the best actor I've ever seen, and out of all the children from Narnia, Georgie would come first for acting, but I still think the critics were a bit harsh.

I agree. I don't only like Will because I think he is good-looking. And even if I didn't think he was, I would still say he was a pretty good actor. Of course we're not saying Will is anywhere near the major stars. For instance, I do not think Skandar Keynes is good-looking, but I think he is a remarkable actor. He did a wonderful job playing his part. Most people would think I was lying because I've got "official Willianite" and pics of William Moseley in my sig.

I don't think there is anything wrong with thinking an actor is handsome. And it isn't right to say girls only like William Moseley because of his looks, because it isn't true (well, for most of us, it isn't). Someone who has gone on the Willianites thread would automatically assume that is the only reason we like him, but its because more often than not we are talking about that, because there are other threads (like this one) where we can discuss his acting and only one (the Willianites) where we can discuss everything else.

There's no problem with people who don't like his acting :) and this isn't an attack on anyone who doesn't like his acting. I'm just voicing my opinion that I'm tired of people saying the only reason we like William is because of his looks.

im not pointing the finger directly at you, cause it seems your one of the few who think that way. i just think the fangirls on here go crazy about actors because they're good-looking, and i can hardly believe that they would obsess over them as much as they do if they didn't think the person was attractive. i dunno, just bugs me.

and you may be tired of people talking about you, i can understand that, but have you looked at it from the other end? there can hardly be a civilized discussion without someone posting that they love will or skandar. im not talking directly to you though, so pleas dont take it the wrong way.

Maybe some of them do, but I certainly don't. Thank you for voicing your opinion, both of you. :) :) William is extremly attractive that I could eat him! lol But he is also an amazing actor, but not as good as Georgie, I have to admit, but I've already said that.

im a guy, so maybe this is harder to understand.

well that explains it :) actually it makes it easier

very understandable because this forum is chock full of people who are umm.. shall I say, over-obsessed. if you're trying to keep the convo civilized, just ignore the "OMG Will is so hott" or "I love Skandar's hair". For people like you I try to keep that in the Willianites, lol. Unfortunately, in this day and age there will never be a forum where you can keep the "rabid fangirls" out.

god, i hate critics too, i hate it when i walk out of a movie telling people it's like the best movie i've ever seen, then suddenly i read in a magazine a critic insulting the actor or movie. I read in one column how if you put two wooden posts into the ground and put nametags on them, the posts would be much more interesting then will and skandar

WHAT?! thats incredibly rude, even for critics.

i know how you feel- actually, i usually go against what the critics say.. no offense to all the big movies out there because i know they are really popular, but like the ones that win the major academy awards and stuff are usually not ones that i like at all.

This is my first post, although I've been reading the boards for few months, but this discussion caught my eye. And yes, I am a Willianite (ducks), but here me out because we can be unbiased.

I think that movie reviewing is almost completely subjective and so I only really respect reviewers who can look at what the director or actors were trying to accomplish and judge the film or performance from that angle and not from what they thought it should be. I thought all four actors did great jobs with the lines they were given. Georgie got the best lines of the lot, followed by Skandar and that has some effect on the performances. When Will was free of some of the rather awkward lines he had in the second half of the movie, he really began to shine. Same for Anna.

I also would say that when people criticize an actor's performance, they might want to consider how they were directed for a scene. It's the director's vision and they decide how much freedom an actor has in their performance. Andrew Adamson sounds like a very involved director who had a distinct vision of what type of performance he wanted from each child (see the commentary) and so if you didn't like a performance, perhaps you didn't like his direction. Just my opinion.

That is horrible. If I were an actress and got reviews as horrid as that I would try to sue or something.. of course, I am the girl who wants to sue the water ride at Kings Dominion because it says you get soaked, yet you hardly get soaked... except for last time...

I don't think critics understand that the actors are trying the best they can, and that they are extremly new to this. Now if they had Daniel Radcliff or some one playing Peter or Endmund (HAHA!) The reviews wouldn't have been as bad. Why? Because Daniel is professional.. well in my opinion, because his role is the one and only Harry Potter. He isn't new to this at all. Thats hwy I think Critics have to think about these things first, which I don't think most do at all!
