"Only Friends" A Celtic Thunder FF

Ok, more.

“We’ll be right across the hall if you need anything.” George told us, being the father figure that he was. “Zara and Sharon will be arriving soon and your rooms are right next door to each other and connected with a door.”
I heard a giggle from Karen behind me and I felt a hand on my shoulder. Karen’s voice, “We’ll be fine, Father, dear.” She said teasingly.
I grinned, and gave George a hug, telling him that I would be fine. That still didn’t seem to satisfy him.
“Your mothers have entrusted you two into our care.” He said, and then paused and looked over his shoulder at the other guys, he turned back, “Well, into my care, anyway.”
Everyone laughed and we all said goodnight and went to our rooms.
As usual, I over-packed. I always did on any kind of trip. As I found out, Karen did too. Between the two of us, the room was crowded by suitcases, bags, and loose clothes.
Karen and I got ready for bed quickly and then tucked ourselves into the comfy sheets.
Karen fluffed up her pillows and then turned to me and grinned. “So, you wanna do an all-nighter?”
I rolled my eyes and yawned. “No way! I can barely stay awake now!”
“Oh, come on,” Karen said, “I finally get to have something close to a sleep-over and the other girl can barely stay awake!”
I looked at her. “You’ve never had a sleepover?”
She shook her head, “My mom leads a very sheltered life and shelters mine as well.”
I honestly felt sorry for her. No wonder she was so dumb, she wasn’t exposed to the real world.
Just then, which was about 3:00 A.M., there was a knock at the door between our room and next door. Karen jumped, letting out a little squeal. She covered her head with her sheets and I heard whimpering.
I rolled my eyes and jumped out of bed. “Look, girl! It’s just Sharon or Zara.”
I went over and opened the door, expecting to see one of the girls. Instead, Damian stood in front of me.
I jumped slightly, surprised to see him there. “Oh! You scared me.”
He grinned, “Didn’t mean to do that.” He said, and then held something out to me, “We found this on top of one of our suitcases.”
I looked in his hand and saw a cell phone, a blackberry pearl, to be exact. “Yeah that’s mine.” I said kind of awkwardly. Desperately trying to think of what I had on my background, I took the phone out of his hand. Slipping it into my pocket, I stood at the door awkwardly.
He awkwardly put his hands into his pockets. It was quite weird because we had never been at a loss for words. Perhaps it was just Karen’s presence. It certainly didn’t help any.
“Um, I guess I’ll talk to you guys tomorrow.” He said finally, and not a moment too soon.
“Yeah,” I agreed.
With a small smile at me and a wave to Karen in the room, he turned and went back through the room and out the door.
“That was kind of weird.” Karen said when I hopped back in bed.
I grinned, “Yeah, and awkward.”
She nodded, then leaning over the nightstand she asked, “How long have you had your phone?”
I pulled the blackberry out of my pocket and handed it to her, “Around 8 or 9 months.”
She punched a few buttons and then with a small, unreadable smile turned the screen towards me.
I looked at it and embarrassingly realized what was on my wallpaper. A picture of Damian singing “Puppy Love”
I gave her an embarrassed looking grin. “Oops!” I said.
She looked at me approvingly. My brain couldn’t think of what she was thinking. As Damian’s girlfriend, wouldn’t she be mad?
“Very smart of you.” She said.
I was puzzled. “How so?”
“Well, obviously this was planned. If any ‘innocent’ fan ‘happened’ to find your phone, then they would see this and believe your story.”
Inwardly, I sighed. Thank goodness she was blonde.

Ok, here's more.

In the morning, I didn’t wake up on my own. I didn’t even dream I was so tired. The last thing I remember was saying something about how much I loved going shopping at the mall and the next thing I knew Sharon was shaking me awake the next morning.
“Eliza, dear, you need to wake up.”
I groaned, “It’s not school, is it?”
I heard a soft chuckle, “No, it’s not school. Although I’m not sure how your mom worked you out a month off school.”
I managed a sleepy grin, “Long story.”
Sharon smiled and walked over to the window. Flinging the curtains open she let in a blast of sunlight. It hurt my tired eyes so that I covered my head with the blanket.
I heard a groan from the other bed and peeked out to see Sharon shaking Karen awake. “Come on, you sleepy heads.” She said going back over to the dividing door, “We have to leave soon. You don’t want to miss breakfast with the guys do you?”
That got us both sitting up in less than 2 seconds. We both laughed at our enthusiasm to see the guys.
Getting dressed quickly I got out my laptop. I had brought it along to keep me occupied during spare minutes and considering how Karen was moving along, this was going to be a long minute.
I went on the usual websites, facebook, and a couple of forums that I belonged to, including a Celtic Thunder one.
“What kind of stuff do you do on the computer?” I heard Karen ask from the bathroom.
“Oh, normal stuff,” I replied, “I go on facebook a little, and a few other websites I belong to.”
Karen walked to the door, a bottle of hairspray in her hand, “That sounds like fun. What kind of websites?”
I turned my laptop around and showed her the Celtic Thunder one I was on.
She looked at it for a few minutes and a sparkle came to her eye, “Can I join?”
“Sure,” I answered, “Anyone can join.”
She went back into the bathroom and came out with a small bag. Putting that in her suitcase, she came over to the small sofa I was sitting on and sat down beside me.
I turned the computer sideways so she could see it too.
I clicked on the join button and the put the machine on her lap.
She didn’t have much experience with a computer, that was evident, but she knew enough to get around. She had to hunt and peck to type her username and password and I had to help her with the secret letters and a few other things but soon she was done.
“I did it!” she exclaimed.
“Yeah, you did. Now you can go on anytime and talk to other people and answer questions and have fun.”
She grinned, “What’s your username?”
I blushed, “Umm well, it would probably be easier if I typed it in for you.” I said lamely.
Being the blonde girl she was, she gave the computer back to me.
I typed in my username. I didn’t want her to see it because it had to do with Damian, and I didn’t want to cause a fuss.
After a few minutes of searching the forum and answering a couple of posts, there was a knock at the door.
I absent-mindedly called, “Come in!”
I heard the door open but was too engrossed in typing to look up. But after a few seconds, I heard a soft chuckle in front of me.
I looked up to see Paul standing there.
“Hey!” Karen said, “Eliza was just showing me this awesome website! She helped me join and everything!”
I could see a twinkle in Paul’s eye as he replied, “I’m glad you girls have been having fun.”
Getting our stuff together and with Paul’s help we carried our luggage down to the bus and loaded it up. Then we went into the restaurant and picked a few tables.
Thinking about the fun five minutes I had spent with Karen in our room, I thought to myself, Maybe she’s not so bad afterall.
