Where are we?

The imaginary town of Smoky Lake, Virginia.

When was it as part Three ended?

Late in the day, Sunday of Labor Day weekend, 2008.

Who's been doing what?

Both of the mothers of Alipang Havens and Kim Tisdale are in agreement to give Kim and Alipang every opportunity to be together in unforced ways, in the hope that something will come of it. The hope of something coming has been facilitated by Kim Tisdale having the honesty to apologize to Alipang for judging him unfairly during the first school week. Meanwhile, Alipang's adoptive sister Chilena was shaken by a sudden meeting with the birth parents who gave her up to the Havens for adoption long ago. Mike Jakekens, one of Chilena's birth _brothers,_ also appeared, seeming much more sincere than Mr. and Mrs. Jakekens. Appreciative of Alipang for his moral support, Chilena has written a song in his honor. She has not forgotten Dan, her new boyfriend; but Dan was a long time recovering from sickness.

Suri, the student from Honduras, learned that her grandfather back in Honduras was gravely ill. The art-loving student Callie, who had introduced herself to Suri during the first school week, prayed for the grandfather, and the grandfather began to get better. Grant, the worship singer from Redemption Free Church, has performed songs for Summer's disabled father. Erin, the girl whose mother is a detective novelist, got acquainted with the pastoral couple of Redemption Church, and will be exhibiting her boa constrictor at the city picnic on Labor Day. Also expected to be assisting at this festival are Jason and Kaitlyn Katon, who both plan to meet with Mr. Kramer the Navy veteran to discuss possible future careers. Brendan and Jennifer are still an item, though not onstage much lately. Cheerleader tryouts have not yet happened at East High School.

THE MIGRATION IS MADE! We take up where Part Three left off, as the Havens siblings are looking at clouds--and remembering when Chilena, already long the adopted daughter of Eric and Cecilia, was in the Philippines with them as they took in the orphaned Alipang....

CHILENA: "Yeah, I remember we use to hate each other I'm glad we good friends," she told him, placing her arms under her head.

Alipang sighed. "I gave you _cause_ to hate me, at least for the first month. I was fresh caught, still wild, still very much law-of-the-jungle after years of struggling to survive. But you, as much as Mom and Dad, brought me out of that. Remind me, did I thank you for that?"

If Alipang knew one thing about his sister, it was that her moods were changeable. Only minutes before, she had been very affectionate; now she was pensive and slightly withdrawn. So he simply replied, "I probably did thank you, but just in case--" He then spoke the Tagalog for "Thank you very much, and I love you."

And he kept watching the clouds as she was doing.

With Chilena neither saying nor doing anything....

Out of the clouds came a colorful swarm of hot-air balloons, all occupied by monkeys. The balloons descended; when they touched the ground, they merged together and became a huge circus tent. Several of the monkeys came running out and shouted to Alipang: "Come on, already, get your clown makeup on! You're keeping The Great Kimmicocopuf waiting! You know she can't enjoy her high-wire act unless you're there for her to laugh in your face!"

Alipang shook his head. That, he told himself, was not one of the more enjoyable ones.

Alipang didn't bother reminding Chilena about the TWO times she had bitterly resented Dad forbidding her to date certain boys--both of whom later turned out to be juvenile criminals. YOU still worry ME, sweets, he thought. But I'm certain that Dan is okay.

She got up with her arms crossed " Al I need to go well you be all right?," she asked, kneeling down to him to kiss him on the cheek.

"Sure, I know the way home. But I need to be able to tell Mom and Dad where you went. Seeing Dan is fine, if that's where you're going, but you need to tell me. You missing supper by going on a visit this late is a given."

"Well, then tell me where you ARE going. I say this on Mom and Dad's behalf. Seeing Mike would be okay, too. Whatever you TELL me you're doing, I'll believe you; but if you don't tell me anything, I'll just follow you, and you don't have your car."

"I told you I would believe you; if you say you're just going for a walk, you're just going for a walk. That was a Guinness-Book-of-Records shortest cloud-watching session ever, but you take your walk. Do call home and tell them you're missing supper. I'll stay here a bit and daydream something, then I'll head home and eat."

Nothing satisfying was playing at the Daydream Cinema; so less than two minutes after Chilena was out of sight, Alipang decided to go home and NOT miss out on supper.

Chilena was in their old hiding spot holding her legs watching the clouds up there. pulling out her phone to call her mum to tell her she'll be home soon.
