No. I've read all five books--most of them twice, since I'm the process of reading the series to my 11-year-old brother. The 3rd book was my favorite, but Gwydion was the only character I ever really liked, and I couldn't stand how the series ended. My brother loves the series, however. I'm still puzzled as to why the Newbery people liked it: my current hypothesis is that it's one of the children's series that simply don't appeal to people who read it for the first time as adults.
Yes. I don't remember what it was; I was one or two years old, but I'm pretty sure I was burdened with glorious purpose. Also my sister gave Wreck this Journal to me while I was working on my thesis, and I did a pretty decent job on it. Anger helps.
No, though, as a teenager, I did hide a silver dollar in a drawer in preparation for the day when the government would ruin everything and all the good people would have to depend on gold and silver to survive. Fortunately, I recovered from the abuse of my rational faculties, but I think the coin is still in that drawer.
