Peter & Caspian fighting scene

From the interviews with Doug Gresham and the one I read the other day from the Starlog Magazine which interviewed producer Mark Johnson, I feel somewhat better about the adaptation of the film than I did earlier. My only qualm is the interview done with Ben Barnes in which he avoids Aslan as being the center of the film and says that any "faith" per se is that of having faith in oneself and in others. He just doesn't get it about Aslan and that scares me for any upcoming films such as the VODT which is full of allegories concerning the true Spiritual aspect of Aslan.

Also in the artilce, producer Mark Johnson basically stated that Narnia films will come out every two years until the book series has been completed. So, if he is correct, we have some great things ahead for Narnia and Narnian fans.

I know, right.

SoA, was Ben just speaking for himself or was he speaking on behalf of the movie's writers. If the former, then it doesn't matter what he thinks about the movie in that sense. It sounds to me like he is just trying to sell it to as many people as he can.

Unless you get the same information from the directors or writers, I wouldn't worry.

I've Seen That Part in their new production blog, their fight was great,i can't wait to see that part in the film.but for me,my opinion is there are training themselves against king miraz :)

According, to a review of the the movie companion listed on Narniaweb and here. Prince caspian is fighting Peter, as they think one another is an enemy. they get it sorta out i think.

Yes, they get it sorted out rather quickly.

Whether what Ben Barnes stated was from a promotional standpoint or himself doesn't really matter. I personally believe from the way Ben spoke that he was referring to his opinion, but I also equally believe that Disney, Walden, the producers (Except for Doug Gresham), the writers, and Andrew Adamson are coming at Narnia from a purely fantasy humanistic standpoint and not from a Christian standpoint at all. In LWW, PC, one can get away with that concept a bit I fear, but in VODT and the Last Battle the whole theme of those to books is that of a spiritual concept. Aslan appears in many different forms in VODT and each appearance relates to spiritual truths and values. And the Last Battle portrays Aslan for Who He really is - God, or for earth, Jesus Christ. He appears as the Great Lion and the Lamb that was slain. The New Narnia is a picture of heaven. The deaths of all the main characters, except for Susan, shows that the spirit who lives for God goes to heaven, while those who don't, primarily the Calormenes, the animals, and others who do not believe in Aslan are carried off by Tash, the evil demon or satan.

So to try to put a humanistic face on those to films would require a totally different story from the beloved books by Mr. Lewis. At least that is my opinion. Take it for what it is worth.

they get it sorta out i think.
Well, hopefully, otherwise we'll have a big problem :p

And you're definately right, SoA, it's just impossible to avoid Aslan as who He really is, because the books are (basically) all about that. I mean, Aslan Himself said in VotDT that they (the children) were only brought to Narnia so they would know Him better in our world. To take that message away would be taking the chronicles away. But we'll see. I still have faith in it ;)

People try to reduce Aslan, because they want to reduce Jesus. They want to shrink Him down to what one Christian writer sardonically called "Christ the Idiot Driving Around in a Volvo with a Bumper Sticker Saying 'Be Nice to People'."

Hmm

In LLW, when I first saw it, I remember thinking that they really upped the Pevensie's ability to "start" the change. Like Mr. Beaver's "It's all happening because of you!" and Father Christmas' "The hope Your Majesties have brought..."

It wasn't the Pevensies at all in the books - it was Aslan, bringing them. In the movies, they upped the Pevensies to bring down Aslan's power.

It makes me wonder how they'll do the creation scene in Magician's Nephew.

Didn't you hear it yet? Digory and Polly are going to sing the song, and create Aslan with it... :p

I don't think there is ANY way they can avoid Aslan being the creator... hopefully.

Careful lieke, we wouldn't want to give Disney and Walden any dumb ideas there...I'd soooo boycot Magician's Nephew if they had Digory and Polly do the singing. The power will remain with Aslan or I'll do everything possible to make sure that film is not a success.

I didn't like that aspect of LWW and am unsure of what will happen with PC. At least I have more hope for the fight scene now that the movie storybook shows Peter and Caspian's fight as more of a mistaken identity kind of thing rather than them loathing one another. Depending on how the film goes once released....Lord willing, there will be a lot more to say about it all.

If they would really read that they would find out that the fans (us) don't like it, and will boycot it (which i will too, if it goes that bad) so they won't do it ;)

Yeah, i can live with mistaken identities too, though it seems to me a bit strange that they just start fighting each other, while not knowing who the other person is. But them started fighting because of an ego-problem... that is very very unlike Peter at least.

As for those parts in LWW, i didn't like it either, but in the end it was very clear that Aslan was in fact the true 'hero'. It wasn't like in the books, unfortunately, but for me it was definately not that bad that i would like... boycot the movie for it. Messing up that part in MN or LB or VotDT could be much worse, but i, as i've said before, have hope :)

i think they 've a sword fight just becz maybe they want to test their themselves.......

peter is better at swords than any other narnian alive..............

:D

To be sure, Peter has nothing to be ashamed about for not being able to beat the White Witch. At the time he fought her, he had only been a knight for what, three or four days?--while she was bigger and stronger than he was, with centuries of experience! Peter can hold his head high just for having been able to stand up to her at all.
