{Far below the water line, the naiad's fingers seep into the cracks between the hull boards. Drawing on their water magic, the sprites concentrate and draw more water into their liquidy bodies. Their fingers swell slowly, forcing the cracks apart. Water which had been merely seeping between the boards begins to gush. The bilges of the Dead End begin to fill.}

{The gaps in the hull are now wide, and the force of the water flowing in is nearly tearing loose the naiad's fingers. Over two feet of water are sloshing around in the bilge and the Dead End is riding lower in the water.

The mermen jam their tridents into the gaps to hold them open, and pull the exhausted water sprites away from the hull. Diving deep with the sea otters, they begin a frantic swim back to the shore. These gallant naiads must be returned to their streams and wells quickly, or they will dissolve and be lost in the ocean!}
