A sparrow flying across the rising sun.

Q. what did Jack 'rope' to save himself? ;)

"He roped a couple of sea turtles, lassed (sp?) them together and made a raft." ;)

To pink-cheetah: it was Murtogg and and Mullroy.

"That, Jack Sparrow, he talked about the Black Pearl."

"Mentioned it is more what he did."

Q: what did Jack say in reponse to the sailor's telling him to get off the ship? (the ship name: I don't remember)

"I'm sorry, but it's such a lovely boat- ship!" something like that?

I think it was the Interceptor ship. (the one when he ends up telling them the story of how he became chief of some tribe?)

EDIT: i'll do both, just to be safe. ;)
On the Dauntles, with Will:
Jack [Jack waves pistol and hurrying down the stairs]: Everybody, stay calm! We are taking over the ship!
Will [with sword drawn]: Aye! Avast!
[Jack gives him funny look]
Sailors laugh; leiutenant or whatever smirks: This ship cannot be crewed by two men.
Jack [cocks pistol in dude's face]: Son, I'm Captain Jack Sparrow.

It was Jack's response to Murtogg and Mullroy that's one of my favorites.

"Alright. I confess: it is my intention to commendeer one of these ships, pick up a crew in Tortuge, raid, pillage, plunder and otherwise pilfer my weasly black guts out."

What did Mullroy (I think he's the skinny sailor) say in response to Jack's line?

I think it's the other way around! ;)

Murtogg: I said no lies!
Mullroy: I think he's telling the truth
Murtogg: If he's telling the truth, he wouldn't have told us!
Jack: Unless he knew you wouldn't believe the truth even though he told you (or something to that effect)

Shine ( for which Rush won as Oscar as his role as a tormented Australian piano player who lost his mind)

He was also in Quills, with Kate Winslet and Joaquin Phoenix as the Marquis de Sade. ( very colorful portrayal)

Okay...Keira Knightley was in this British surprise hit movie before she became famous as Elizabeth Swann. Hint: it was about soccer.

Bend it Like Beckham.
(never seen it)

Keira Knightley's film career was in a way, jumpstarted by this successful first of films. What film did she star in where she had a somewhat big role, but was always playing someone else?
