Planarian Worm

I think some fine TDL'ers are in the habit of picking up earthworms from the black-top or sidewalk and placing them back in the mud or dirt. I do this myself, but noticed lately here in Texas, some of the worms are, I think, planarian worms?

They have a kind of shovel shaped flat head at one end, rather than the rounded end of an earthworm. My questions: are they earthworms and can they bite? Since they had a head at one end, I thought maybe they had a mouth and teeth. I don't want to pick them up if so ...

LOL! I didn't think it could kill me, but yuck, a worm with a head and all! It might have had teeth ... Do they function like an earthworm? Are they worth saving if they are drying out on the sidewalk?

eh...worms. the only real contact I've had with them was science class. i usually don't pick them up. i do on an odd occasion, if I'm in a very good mood..but i usually don't.
unless your terribly frightened of worms though..i don't think these particular worms pose any real problems.

Thank you. I am still suspicious of them because of the head. I didn't pick any up yet. But I may. I prefer the fat earthworm with no head.

Worms can't bite,don't worry.
I pick them up all the time...I was the only girl I knew growing up who actually liked worms,and din't find them yucky.I used to gross out my sunday school class by picking up earthworms after a rain,and putting them back in the dirt.
And of coarse worms are worth saving.They're helpful to the garden!

:O What's wrong with that? It's crispy, and it doesn't taste to bad either. One certain worms you have to remove the head though

If you want bigger earthworms move to Australia they've got the gaint earthworm

Yeah it was more like Lady Callandra said. I was dared to do it ... I've also eaten grubs, even though they wasn't fried.

I have never eaten a grub or a worm, but I've eaten crawfish which live in mud like a worm, and catfish, which are bottom feeders, too.
