Prince Caspian Trailer

Wow... not meaning to spam, but it's hilarious to see how many people have changed their sigs and avvies to PC stuff in the past two days. :p:p

Welcome again Ms. Cadbury! I liked the trailer overall. It does raise a number of questions in my mind, but I'll reserve judgement till I see the film I think. Then I'll process it a lot and comment more.

I think there was an extra battle scene added to the film in the night raid where you see they Gryphons carrying the kids into the castle. I saw the whole pre viz footage for that scene at Comic Con and it was fast and furious...with a small bit of humor thrown in from Reepicheep and his contingent.

Seeing that bit in the trailer when it's not in the pre viz mode was interesting. It looked even darker than at Comic Con.

You've seen Reepicheep? Oh please describe what he looked like! I must know!

It was in the pre viz so it wasn't like he was filled in. I saw a concept art drawing of him and he's mostly white with a bit of black and goldenbrown on his back. He had the red feather in his headband and he had his rapier which was big enough for a sword for him. His mouse buddies are a bit darker in color, but we couldn't see what the end result would be like for them either. It will be interesting to see what he will look like when all is said and done. I think they didn't want to put him in the trailer because so many people threw a stink about him being lighter in color overall from the books' description and they didn't want people deterred from the film. I didn't think he looked bad, but I care more about how a character acts and keeping the spirit of the character in tact than about the asthetics. Reep isn't all white, but he doesn't fit the books' physical description completely. Of course, neither did Edmund and he turned out ok.

Thanks for explaining! I don't really care if they match the book exactly: i mean, most of the characters were a bit different than the book described them.

But indeed, as long as the character is the same i'll be very happy:D (well, unless they actually let him be played by Mr T:D (you know, from the NW april fool jokes:D))

Anytime. I'll wait to see the film before judgement I think. There are a number of things that I'm wary of but I'll have to see the whole thing before going nuts. If nothing else I have my BBC and can live with that. We'll see what happens. The trailer looked cool, but as I've said before...all the great production in the world can't make up for getting the story and characters right. We'll have to wait and see.

True! But considering how they did LWW i'm not too worried for PC either ;)

Although it is a common practice for the next movie in a series not to be as good as the previous, unfortunately. Hopefully, though, the producers/writers will stay with the books' plots as a guide instead of springing off on their own like many book-related movies have before.

True, but the good things here are that:
1. PC is really a different story than LWW, it is not mainly about the same stuff (like LotR is all about destroying the ring).
2. The books were all known before any movie was made. Most of the times when a movie is made and the makers didn't know there was going to be a sequel when they made the first one the second one is worse, but when they already know that they will make sequels it is usually kinda nice:)

Those are some very good points! I never really have a high expectation for book movies - If I do, I'm bound to be disappointed. :p But it'll be nice to be proved wrong. :) Although for Narnia, I am expecting a lot just because it's my duty. ^^ Hehe!

We'll have to wait and see what his attitude is then and what the dialogue is...it's tough to tell from a picture. Yeah, they did ok with LWW, but I know they took a great deal more in the way of liberties in PC. I know that Caspian is more arrogant and that he and Peter are supposed to get into a physical fight with each other over who's in charge. Susan is fighting with swords...so much for Susan the Gentle. They care about the books and themes, but they did take a lot more liberty with PC than they did with LWW. That's already been made known overall. The trailer showed that there's a great bit of production value...we'll just have to see if the whole film lives up to it.
